My H has recently started working out for the first time in almost a decade. He used to swim regularly through college but when we moved here and he started working full time, he stopped prioritizing exercise.
I've been working out regularly for about 3 years (running until my injury last year, and now doing tons of yoga/pilates and infrequent 3 mile jogs) and I think he's finally noticing results (I am in the best shape of my life!) and wants to join in too. He's been doing jog-walk intervals for about 6 weeks and is working through the C25k program. He's also coming along to yoga with me every now and then.
So my question. He has a couple pairs of baggy adidas athletic shorts and a couple wicking t-shirts. I took him out running with me on the trail this weekend and the poor thing was freezing. It was 57 degrees - he wore his baggy shorts, a wicking t-shirt, and a cotton long sleeve t-shirt on top. I think the wind was bothering him the most, it was also kind of misty out and his long sleeve top wasn't doing anything for water resistance.
I'm super proud of him so far but want to help motivate him to keep going even though the temperatures are falling. I don't think he'll stick it out all winter but at least down into the 50s for fall it's easy enough to layer to keep warm enough. I already ordered him this long-sleeve shirt as a mid-layer. What else? What do the men folk wear on their legs?

Tights with shorts over when it's really cold, and you need that tight layer, or if you don't want the bulk of sweats over shorts. If he has sweats that are comfortable for running and will stay up then those are an option too.
Cotton won't help him stay warm, so I'd look at a couple long-sleeved technical shirts as well as a thin windbreaker if it's usually windy.

My H does running pants, I think he has a few pairs that are fleece-lined. He does short sleeve and long sleeve wicking shirts with a fleece vest over-top. He doesn't get that cold easily. For reference, we are in upstate NY. High 50s he would probably still do shorts and a short sleeve shirt, but he's a little nuts.

DH has a couple of pairs of tights he wears under running shorts, and a couple of pairs of track pants he'll wear for shorter runs. They're C9 for Target. He also has a windbreaker.
DH has running pants from Target/C9. They aren't tights. He wears regular t-shirts/race shirts and sometimes adds a fleece and a hat. He isn't too picky. Target has a decent enough selection if your H is similar in not caring too much.
