I have a really big project at work that is stressing me out...and instead of tackling it, I'm avoiding it. I don't recommend this. I'm giving myself 15 more minutes, and then I'm going to have the world's most productive 2 hours.
DH wants to go to the running store tonight after work. He needs new shoes. I just purchased new shoes, but now I really want to try the Nike shoes that everyone was talking about the other day in Tara's thread.
My long run this weekend was fine. Nothing amazing, but solid. My legs, if it was a strong effort, should have been pretty damn tired afterwards. Last night I go for a recovery run, and my legs magically wanted to go about 20-30 seconds faster than they went on my other run. WTF? Why isn't my body cooperating when I want it to cooperate? When I want to go slow, it wants to go fast. When I want to go fast, it wants to go slow.
As I mentioned in the Sunday thread, DH and I used a local half to run the last 13 miles of our long run. Since we both planned to take it easy, we ran the entire thing together. DH is faster than me, so we've never run a race together. It made what was an otherwise unremarkable training run, lots of fun, and I love this picture of us. I might buy it. We don't have any pics of us running together.
Cute pic! And speaking of our bodies not cooperating. I was doing a tempo run the other week and struggling to keep pace. Decided that maybe it just wasn't my day and cut it short and was going to finish up with a few cool down miles. Running my cool down all la de da and look down at my garmin. I was running the same pace that during my tempo I was struggling at? WTF?
H and I were in Kansas this weekend visiting family. I need to get back into better eating habits now that I'm back home, but while there, Jack Stacks barbeque with cheesey potatoes and cheesy corn? Don't mind if I do!
I love Mondays after a big race weekend for the board. I always enjoy reading all the recaps!
I bombed my run yesterday pretty hard. Had planned for 12-14 and made it 5. It just wasn't there mentally or physically. Got in an easy 3 today and feel much better.
I'm struggling not to disclaimer that as being not much and slow and so forth, but dammit I hadn't run in 8 months. I'm excited! It's working! And it feels fantastic. I'm a runner apparently because I'm now one of you crazies that doesn't feel right unless I get my run in. I had an utterly shit afternoon on Friday and was struggling not to cry and rage...went for a run and it all just drained away.

I typed something up but it's too much of a downer for this post so I deleted it. Just please, if you would, hold up my friend and her husband and most of all their amazing daughter in your thoughts and prayers.

I am starving today. Like, eating everything in sight. I even drank a coke, I never have soda. Ever!
taratru the afternoon workouts are killing me too. But it's at the point now where it's so dark and cold and hard to get out of bed in the morning, and afternoons are the answer. But I get home and I just want to curl up and relax.

Dang it! Now I really want some Jack Stack and I won't be back to KC until Christmas. Love them - they catered our rehearsal dinner.
thom around 12-13 weeks is when I noticed I wasn't bloating as much and was starting to have a bit of a belly. It was really only noticeable to me but I started feeling like other people might notice at that point. You are really tiny to begin with and from things I read in the beginning, you can show sooner if you are thinner pre-pregnancy. I'm excited for you, I can't wait to see belly pictures
So granted its Tuesday but another random. I have a 2 year old. How the hell is he 2 already!?!?
No, it's okay! I was contemplating making another random. LOL I'll just post here. Happy Birthday to the lil guy!
I need to talk about early morning runs. I HATE my morning runs before work. I'm a good 30 seconds slower, which, whatever. I don't mind that. What I DO mind, is the gagging & nausea I experience. Why does this happen? It doesn't happen on my early weekend runs, and there are only two differences. 1) I don't eat before my weekday runs. They're only 5-7 miles and I'm not even remotely hungry, so i don't think that's it. 2) The time from waking up to running is significantly shorter for my weekday runs. I am MAYBE up for 30 minutes, before I start running. I roll out of bed, change, strap on the Garmin & go. On the weekend, it's closer to 1-1.5 hrs. Is my body just not awake yet? Is my digestive system not working before I force it to start running, and therefor it's not happy?
Another random. I have to go to a video shoot for that big project I'm managing. Our digital director has been coordinating this part of the project with the production company, but she's out of town, so I'm going in her place. There is a very specific shot she wants & when she asked them if they were planning on jumping into a pool to get it, there was dead silence. I was on the call with her & she asked if I minded volunteering to do it. Of course I said I didn't. Whatever we need to get the shot. That's true...HOWEVER, if I show up to that shoot today and they actually make me get in the pool (rather than doing it themselves), I am going to be livid. FFS, we are PAYING you. I am the client. Me jumping in the pool, should not be the only option for us getting this shot. PLUS, I will not be there when they film the 3 remaining people (they are scattered across the country), so what are they planning on doing then?? If I am the one getting wet today, we are going to be having a frank little chat about what we expect for the remaining shoots.
clseale could the nausea etc be caused by dehydration? If you've spent all night sleeping and not hydrating, and you don't have much when you wake up in the morning before you run, that could definitely be a culprit (especially with your humidity down there).
Hmmm, that's possible! I don't typically drink a bunch in the morning before any run, but on the weekends I do drink a little with breakfast and on the way to the run, so I'm definitely more hydrated than I am for the weekday runs. I had one sip of water before I left the house this morning. I think we're planning another run for Friday morning, so I'l see if that helps. Thanks!

Or vitamins? If I take my vitamins first thing in the am and run I feel nauseous

Thanks lady! Maybe I'll pop into HDBD this week. You and your bump are just beautiful. Won't be long!
I have an appointment tomorrow, so I guess as long as my weight isn't going crazy I should be ok. I can not believe I'm just about done w/first tri.

I do too, but I don't take any before my run. Idk. It's so weird, but it's every time & only on those runs. Thanks for trying to trouble shoot with me!
clseale, could it be GERD? I get bouts of it, and when it flares I feel nauseous right after waking, like my stomach is just sour and I want to gag. I also have zero interest in eating that early, but I usually force at least a bit of banana or bites of toast. Seems to help.

Maybe? I don't know that I've ever dealt with it before, but I have had a few recent bouts of nighttime heartburn. If we run Friday morning, I'll try and get a few crackers or something down before we go. Thanks!

I suspect it's a combination of empty stomach and less time awake since you don't have the issue on weekends. I agree to try to eat a little something, maybe some crackers like you mentioned or a graham cracker or something. For me that helps plus it just took some getting used to. I'm an exclusive morning runner now and no longer have any issues.

You do realize the next advice is going to be to POAS
LOL. Definitely not pregnant,. Plus, this has been happening for awhile, it's just the first time I have complained about it. I don't do early weekday runs that often.
Thanks, everyone. I'll try to make myself eat a few bites of something & maybe wake up a little bit earlier.

clseale Can you run from work in the morning? I need a little bit of time to just get moving in the morning and didn't want to wake up earlier so sometimes I just run from work so I've got the drive there to wake up and get a little food and coffee in me. Not an option for everyone but just a suggestion.
