So, I painted my nails last weekend I love the color, and I didn't do too bad of a job staying in the lines, but I've noticed the finish is very bumpy. Not smudged but just kind of rough.
I did a base coat, two coats of polish, and then a top coat, but it's definitely not the smooth finished look you get at a salon. What did I do wrong?
I'm with cuddlyevil. I want to go back to bed! My coffee maker wouldn't turn on the regular way, but would for the auto brew setting, so I had to program it to start instead. I guess this is what happens with a 10+ year old coffee maker. Also, yesterday the fan in my car (the one that blows air on you) died. I don't even want to think about how much that would cost to repair. I was hoping to save up for a new car but all these small repairs are making that difficult.
SwimDeep there could be any number of reasons your polish came out rough. Did you buff your nail beds? Use thin costs of polish? What kind of polish did you use?

Today is ds's parent teacher conference. Ugh! I don't wanna!
I asked ds what he thinks his teacher is going to tell us, and got some good (hopefully) honest answers and although it won't all be good at least I feel somewhat prepared. And I'm glad that ds and I have such a good relationship that he feels like he can be honest with me.
tiramisu - I did buff first. I used Sally Hansen Double Duty for the base/top coat and Sally Hansen Insta-Dry for the polish. I also used an oil treatment on my cuticles before I buffed, but I made sure to wash it off really well before applying the base coat and polish.
ETA: The fan in your car could be something as simple as a blown fuse, which would only cost a few bucks and Auto Zone would probably replace it for you. I hope that's all it is!
SwimDeep hmm, I'm not sure. I do use separate base coat and top coat though.
Also, it's probably not a blown fuse. A while ago it stopped working on speeds 1&2, the started making noise on 3&4. I noticed the noise change yesterday and then heard it die. Luckily I'm due for an oil change so I can get a quote and start saving up.

I'm wondering if it's not the base/top coat because it looked alright (given my ultra-newbie skills) until I put the top coat on. I'm planning a trip to Ulta soon, so if you have any recommendations I'd love to start making a list
Bummer about the fan At least we're moving into the cooler seasons so it won't be an immediately necessary fix?

tiramisu, I've replaced the blower motor (fan) in my car. The part wasn't terribly expensive (around 60 dollars or so), and it doesn't take much more than removing the glove box usually to gain access to replace it. I would guess that it would take an experienced mecanic no more than a couple of hours to complete.
starrieskies - I keep forgetting that you like to work with your car. Have you ever tried to recharge the AC? I need to recharge the AC in a VW Passat, and the only reason I haven't done it yet is because I've never done it before.
Also, I really need to remove the glove box in my Toyota Camry to replace an air filter. How difficult is it to remove a glove box?

Recharging the ac is pretty easy, just pay attention to how much you're putting in and you'll be fine. However sometimes the system needs to be bled first to prevent over filling. I've never done that before, and probably will spend the money to have a professional do it.
Removing the glove box is super easy. They usually pop right out with no tools needed.

yeah...I'm pretty sure the system has been dry for the last three summers I keep putting it off. I had no idea taking the glove box out would be that easy. I thought it would involve removing the whole dashboard.
I just received my assignments for the rest of the month and am not sure if I want to scream or cry. So many essay questions and papers to write. I am an accountant not an English major - WTF?!

Ugh, I had my car at the dealership on Saturday to replace the headlight assembly. They talked me into only replacing the bulb. Big surprise, it didn't fix the problem, so now I need to bring it back, and I need to convince them that the $180 that I had to pay for the bulb needs to be deducted off the cost of the headlight assembly. Because I shouldn't have to pay for their incompetence.
I keep gaining weight, even though I've been eating pretty healthily lately. I need to cut back on the booze, but I don't wanna. *pout*
I fucked something up at work this morning and thankfully I got it back under control, but it was a big mess and I feel awful about it. Doesn't help I've had a headache for days. I'm going to make sure my supervisor knows my part in the chaos.

*adds car work to her weekend to do list* Thanks!
Nah, the glove box hinge is like a hinge on a children's toy, a round piece on either side that fits into a notch so it can rotate freely. You just pop it out.
I'm doing this packing thing SO. SLOWLY. Last night I went through my purses and shoes. Tonight if I have time, I'm going through my linen closet and general household items. All the thinking about the stuff happening this month has overtaken the action needed to make the stuff...happen.
Also, I'm now into the second-guessing-every-answer portion of the post-interview anxiety process. Was I too informal? Did I come off too nervous? Were my answers too simple?

I just replaced the fan on my car. It died. My Mini shop said 500+ I did it for 90 This is why I bought a house with a garage.

Swimdeep I've actually recharged a jetta not to long ago. German cars require specific coolant to recharge. It's hard but you need the right one. I would google for a right up on it. I'm sure they exist.
So my kitchen is coming together. I am supposed to meet my counter guy today. I started off today at the girl dr getting a check up. What an awkward way to start the day. Blerg.
