Our home was almost broken into this morning. I'm still shaken up over it, but just so happy we weren't hurt and they didn't get in! Around 5:10am the man heard a knocking somewhere in the house (the master is on the main level). He went out into the living room and saw a flashlight coming from the glass doors that let out onto the deck from the kitchen. Whoever it was knocked again. He put on the lights and hit the emergency button on our alarm system and the guy went away. The police officers who responded to my call looked all over our property but didn't find anything. Needless to say, I'm getting motion detectors put outside the house ASAP and I'm keeping the alarm on 24/7.
I'm so, so sorry you guys are ok ! I know how violated you must feel, C. I hope the motion sensors give you a sense of security after this. We have them on all of our floors and they do give me extra security.

OMG I'm SO glad you're ok and that you had that. I am totally emailing my husband about it right now since he's been on the fence for a while (I'm so not.) Hugs!
We have had a system for about a year now but actually haven't used it at night. I'm afraid I will end up setting it off going to the garage for a gatorade MOTN or forgetting in the morning that it is armed and tripping it while kids are still asleep.

I get that, but nighttime is when I rely on it most. I rarely have it on during the day when I'm home. But we live up on a hill in a community that's fairly isolated, and while I don't like being an alarmist, that kind of seclusion worries me. After last night I'm beyond grateful for the extra security (whether real or perceived) it provides.
