With the weather for the three day weekend looking good, I think it is time to reclaim my garage stall. FIL left everything when he moved. We are still unpacking and some random stuff has ended up on my side.
I plan to have a box to save anything for hazardous waste removal day in the spring. I've purchased a lockable cabinet to store what we are keeping. There are two workbenches, a bookcase, and a counter.
I think we should just pull everything out to the driveway and sort it into uses and donate/trash. We are likely getting a dumpster soon for final condo clean out unless it ends up being just bagster levels.
Any good tips or organizational items you like? We have ladders, lawn tools, snowblower, regular tools, etc. DH can at least get the car on his side.
We have one of those claw holders for lawn tools, it works great. Shelves of course. We have large plastic shelves, which I like because I don't have to worry about rusting. Do you have sporting equipment? We have a bike rack that is against the wall so it doesn't take up much room. Same for the kayaks. We have too much crap though. No cars fit in our garage.
Past that, I'm no help. We can park one car in our three car garage right now. We moved in July...the "we just moved" excuse is becoming a stretch.
We moved in June, lol. FIL left all his stuff though. We donated multiple car loads and filled a dumpster then, but didn't do much with the garage as the dumpster was full.

LOL we moved 3 years ago. To be fair, we have a second house that we just got non-friend tenants in and had to move out the last of the items that were there and were used by our friends, so that's taking up a lot of space. Plus, we have like a thousand kid toys and balls and stuff like that.
OP, hang what you can, definitely make use of vertical space wherever you can. We have some of the metal shelving units from Sam's Club that we utilize for going up.

We do this twice a year. Once in the spring, once in the fall.
Get the giant S hooks that just screw into the studs. So easy, sturdy, flexible for your needs and you can hang anything for them.
Don't keep anything you can get easily enough again. You'll probably never use it/forget about it anyways.
Organize your garage into zones. Fun stuff, tools, storage etc.
You mean I don't need to keep the massive bag of nails from when the house was built 25 years ago? I'm working on getting DH to agree to keeping a small amount.
DH kept going to the hardware store and buying a package of screws, washers, nails, mollies whatever when he had a million of these bits in a milk jug that weren't "the right type". Yeah right! He just didn't want to sort through the milk jug. I picked up a couple of these and have sorted out half the milk jug in front of the television at night. Now he doesn't need to go to the hardware store for every project...just half of the projects.

Ditto! We use those for lawn stuff, big tools (like the Chainsaw) and tons of bikes. But our garages have never seen cars in them... they are tool storage and bike storage only.
Also if you have a lot of tools, like we do, one of these was life-changing...
Tool storage chest:
I think I spent like $300 on sale, so it's a save-up piece, but you can get smaller ones for much less.
For our lawn care items we have hooks along the 1 wall and just hang them up by their handles. For extension cords I got a bungie cord type that I put through the opening after wrapping around shoulder so it can hang on the wall. We also have 2 wardrob cabinets in our garage which holds things like paint/stain, lawn chairs, pressure washer etc. I do a good clean a few times a year to suck up the lose lawn clippings, dirt etc.
The car is in the garage. We did not organize. I'll take it. Lol.
Great job!
We we worked in the garage last night. We made room for the truck to fit (so 2 cars in the 3 car garage), but then had to take it back out so we could put the bikes back in the garage. Now I have boxes all over my house (again) and still only one car in the garage.

I am on the midst of a major garage reno project so this is timely. My son and I are building cabinets (to the ceiling) into which all items have been placed into clear bins, will be stored). Go is never to have hunt for anything... Workbench is being put on casters so it can move as needed for projects. All lawn tools will hang (love the claw link thing from previous poster!). I painted the walls and ceiling but can't do the floor until spring now...
In the end, its just a garage I know... But I need it to be organized and work better.
Definitely purge like crazy and get rid of anything you don't *have* to have in the garage. We have a mix of metal shelving and Rubbermaid track system
