(Warning satire)
But I sometimes think this way when I realize I'm in my mid-late 30's and still working on DIY house projects.
Woman Always Thought She Would Have More Impressive Showerhead By This Age
KNOXVILLE, TN—Admitting it was pretty disappointing to still be using a standard, single-function water fixture every morning, local 28-year-old Kelsey Bishop told reporters Wednesday that she had always thought she’d have a far more impressive showerhead by this point in her life. “I figured that once I was out of college and working for a while, I’d be in a place where I’d have a showerhead with multiple spray settings and some kind of massage feature, not one of these fixed chrome ones,” said Bishop, adding that she had wholly expected to own a rainfall shower panel with a detachable handheld component by the time she was approaching her 30s. “It’s not like I pictured myself having multiple showerheads or wall-mounted body jets by this age. At the very least, though, I thought there would be a glass door that swings on a hinge instead of a gross plastic curtain. But life doesn’t always work out the way you want.” Bishop was reportedly still holding out hope that she would have a separate bathtub that was on the entirely opposite side of the bathroom from her shower before turning 40.
Do people really care about showerheads this much? I mean, I guess it's the onion but I could relate more to "I always figured I wouldn't be starting my car with a screwdriver in my 30s...."

Nah, just funny b/c it is sort of a sign of "making it" when you get a fancy bathroom with a glass shower door and a spa/hotel-like shower.
Speaking of which, I recently stayed at a $300/night hotel and the showerhead sucked - it was a rain one, but was funky and didn't work like it should. I totally thought, "What for $300/night (that my husband's company was paying, not me) this shower should be better!"

downtoearth - I hate rain showerheads. I love staying in a Westin when available, but DANG I wish they'd get rid of their stupid rain showerheads. They always rinse shampoo into my eyes and it takes forever to get the shampoo out of my hair, so put those things together and I spend about 15 minutes under that damn deluge with my eyes squinched shut. I got smart last time and just used the handheld.

Oh handhelds! I love those. I kind of want one for our house, it would make bath time way easier because W does not understand "LOOK UP AND KEEP YOUR DAMN EYES CLOSED!!!!" and I could wash my hair over the side of the tub without dying.
We have one of the handheld ones in our basement shower, but it attaches to the wall via suction cup. It's nice...except when the change in pressure occasionally causes the shower head to pop off of the wall and go flying around the bottom of the shower, flinging water onto every surface in the bathroom!

This is hilarious! The duplex has a clawfoot tub. I'm irrational upset by it because I HATE showering in a clawfoot. I thought I was done with the showering in a clawfoot part of my life!!
We just moved into a rental (relocated for jobs) and the shower heads are to die for! Such amazing pressure, it feels like a mini massage. It's like the best part of my day now. Even our house guests have commented on them. We are going to be building a new home and powerful shower heads has gone right to the top of my "must have" list!

I love how they look, love taking baths in them, and love bathing kids in them, but after we put one in our first house with the surround, I realized, they are NOT optimal for showering.

And I love rain fall showers. Love. I miss mine from our house and will probably install one here. But we also have a handheld along with it, and we only have bathtubs with a shower in it versus just a shower - so I keep the shower head on while shaving using the bath filler to rinse ...keep warm under the shower and able to have water on my legs/razor too. I think if we only had a shower, we'd do something different.
