H and I are taking the train into the city on Saturday. We have time for lunch, and then we'll be taking the red line up north to pick up my new car (I'm so freaking excited!).
I'm (obviously) not from Chicago, so don't know the neighborhoods very well. We will have no kids (!!!!) but since I'm going to pick up my car must stay sober. I live in a small town with not many food options, so I'm excited to try something new. The only food restriction is no shellfish.
Where are you taking the red line to (wondering because I may have more neighborhood suggestions than downtown suggestions)? For downtown I'd ditto Publican. Also Frontera, Naha, Purple Pig, The Gage. I've heard good things about Sunda but have never been.
Yes, Sunda is really good!! I also really like Quartino.
If you want something super casual, I was actually really impressed with Foodlife in Watertower Place. It's kinda like a fancy/upscale food court - reminiscent of the food halls in european department stores.

To Howard. I'll look some of these suggestions up now. I also got a suggestion for Emilio's, for tapas. Have you heard of it?

Kumas or au Cheval if you want a burger. I want a burger now.
I'd probably eat in Rogers Park though. So much great Indian food. I've always wanted to go here for Indian/Pakistani Chinese food and I've heard it's good. www.usmaniachineserestaurant.com/menu.html
