I don't want to gush to DH because his job sucks and he's having a really bad week at work on top of already hating his job, so you guys get to read about it.
I love this job. I love the people. I love the company.
I started out as an executive assistant and got moved into a marketing coordinator role within the first 3 months I was there. I've been there 4 months now, still doing both jobs. My bosses had an interview with a candidate today and brought me in to chat about her after the interview. The first thing one of them said was, "well, she's no isabel..." And then they proceeded to talk about how great I am for a while and whether or not this girl could fill my shoes. On top of that, my boss for my new position told me I'm doing a great job this week and then when I was on the phone with him today, he told me that one of the guys I work closely with was commenting about how I've really come out of my shell this week and that I'm "kicking ass."
Gah. I'm just so happy! I have a pretty strong personality, especially in a professional setting, and my last boss haaaated that. We clashed so much. It's amazing to have c-suite level people gushing about what a great fit I am, especially when I'm handling two roles at once right now. It's so nice to be appreciated. And, on top of all of that, I have the most amazing, normal schedule and I get to spend time with my family on the weekends instead of working. This is the best career move I could have possibly made.
Well deserved. I always appreciate positive leadership. It leads to a positive rather than poisonous working environment. I swear I would have dragged my former boss with me to Washington if I could have. The man was a master of positive reinforcement and mentoring. Good for you, and good for them for realizing what an asset they have, and reinforcing it within you.
I love my job too. My favorite memories are going on maternity leave and coming back to a promotion. My first Director SUCKED and paid me poorly, but my boss now has compensated me for my with and then some.
