Where is everyone this week? I just finished Did You Ever Have a Family by Bill Clegg. Beautifully written but I didn't enjoy the shifting narrator format. I think I'm going to start The Gates of Evangeline, mostly because it has to be returned to the library soonest.
QOTW: My niece has a pet mini pig. It's still the weirdest thing when I hear him make his little pig noises. (Said pig + finding a waving pig gif inspired the question.)
I'm about 80% of the way through Night Film. It's interesting and I'm enjoying it, but the author constantly italicizes words for emphasis, and it's annoying as hell (and totally unnecessary) to have multiple words per page in italics like this. The supplementary content is kind of fun, but very gimmicky.
QOTW: I don't think I've ever really encountered anything that odd. A co-worker of my H's has a chinchilla, but all the times I've hung out with her have been at parties or out at restaurants, so I've never gotten to cuddle its softness personally.
I just finished Ready Player One. I liked it, but it annoyed me after a few chapters. I thought it was written well , I am just not into all the video game talk , so it was not an easy breezy read for me
I just finished reading "After You" by Jojo Moyes. So so good. I really loved "Me After You" and I am glad that she addressed what grief can look like for some people. I am interested to see if she continues this storyline, she seemed to leave it open in the end.
I finished "The Wicked Will Rise" yesterday. It's the 2nd in a dystopian Oz series. I enjoyed it. It's not high class literature by any means, but was entertaining.
I'm attempting to read "The Tiger's Wife," but I'm not liking it. It's beautifully written but it's not grabbing my attention. I may give it up.
QOTW: Not necessarily a weird pet, but I always found them hilarious, a lady in the neighborhood had 2 pot bellied pigs named Bacon and Sausage.
I'm about to give up on Prep by Curtis Sittenfeld. I can't stand the protagonist and it's all just teenage angst and insecurity, over and over. Next up is Crazy Rich Asians by Kevin Kwan.

Reading Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance- enjoying it so far. Not interested in motorcycles at all but I like the narrative. Listening to Miss Peregrinn's Home for Peculiar Children about halfway through and excited to see how it turns out.
QOTW- I once saw someone out walking their pet skunk. No joke. I got to pet it and everything. The glands responsible for the spraying were removed and I guess they're quite docile.

Just finished reading Cabinet of Curiosities (Pendergast #3) by Douglas Preston and Lincoln Child. And am about to start Pendergast #4, Still Life With Crows.

I'm still reading The Professor and the Madman. It's good, but I'm having trouble reading more than a chapter at a time, so it's slow going.
QOTW: In college my friend's roommate had two mice and snake. And I've known a few people who had ferrets. But I think my former neighbor's goat and lamb were the strangest "pets." The lamb went for walks on a leash rice every day, and the goat ate only yellow flowers -- I really miss the goat because my yard has so many dandelions now!
Currently reading My Real Children. It's really interesting but not the best writing ever. It tells the story of a woman's life in 2 different realities, split based on one decision she makes.
I just finished reading "After You" by Jojo Moyes. So so good. I really loved "Me After You" and I am glad that she addressed what grief can look like for some people. I am interested to see if she continues this storyline, she seemed to leave it open in the end.
I'm just about to start this, i can't wait to read it.

I finally finished All the Light We Cannot See. It was good but it was definitely not a "can't put it down" book for me. Starting After You by Jojo Moyes next.
Still working on I Know This Much is True by Wally Lamb. It's good. I wish it had page numbers, though. I hate this "location 1685888 out of 39876655" shit.
I just finished The Nightingale by Kristin Hannah (3 1/2 stars), it took me a little while to get into it. Started The Children's Crusade by Ann Packer, another slow start.
