Schools are off which means I will be super busy. I work all the "minor" holidays when schools are closed, they are my busiest days at the office. It's also why I'm flying home from the wedding in a few hours instead of going on a boat cruise around the island today.

Nope. It isn't recognized as a legal holiday in Washington State. I work for a large state University and we don't get it off. In Seattle it also is no longer called Columbus Day, it's Indigenous People Day.
Yes, it is a federal holiday and I get it off. DH gets it as a floating holiday but is actually taking it tomorrow for the first time ever because he feels bad about leaving for another 10 day work trip on Wednesday. Eta: daycare is closed. They take all federal, state, and some made up holidays. It is a sore spot of mine that they take 50% more paid holiday time than DH or I get.
Neither my H nor I has it off as a holiday, but I'm taking a vacation day to stay home with E. The daycare is affiliated with my office, but strangely enough, it's closed to tomorrow. (I should clarify: it's open for teacher training, but not children.)
It's bad timing for me, because I'm super busy; but I'm psyched to be home with E on a weekday without being confined to the house because she's sick! For once, we're going to meet up with a friend and her son, and I have someone coming to the house for a random appointment about something in the yard. We may go grocery shopping, too, because we've been busy all weekend, and I'm feeling too lazy to go this afternoon.
My internship site is closed. Daycare closed. DW has a vacation day. We always spend the weekend with my sister and BIL who both have the holiday from work and their kids have no school.
