We were all together for Thanksgiving dinner yesterday and then we went home. We were woken up at 2am from my SIL letting us know that They thought FIL had had a stroke and he was on the way to the hospital.
The ambulance took him to the tiny rural hospital, but he was pretty quickly transferred to the closest city. We slept until the kids woke up, packed the car back up and drove the 2.5 hours back to where my ILs live. Now they're talking about transferring him down to Toronto.
They did a CT and it showed that one of the main arteries to his brain is quite blocked with calcium deposits. He's got some paralyzation in his upper left side and he's at risk for another stroke in the next 24 hours. Apparently they can't use an angio to clear the blockage because it's too deep, but a neurosurgeon in Toronto might be able to help.
Any thoughts you can spare would be very appreciated. My husband is a mess. I'm at SIL's house with my BIL and the kids. We probably have a long day of driving around in front of us.
