Why does Webb keep talking about his wife coming here and learning English and going to Cornell law? She was like 9 when she left Vietnam. Plenty of time to learn English. It's not like she was 25. Is this a long and drawn out bootstraps story?
Anderson asked him about why he voted to dismantle Glass-Steagall (which allowed the banks to become too big to fail and eventually caused the meltdown). He said it was his first ever vote in congress and his dad (who was senator) had just died, and he was appointed by the governor. So basically, he didn't know what he was doing.
Ouch. Sorry to hear about his dad though.
His only qualification before becoming a U.S. Senator was coming from a wealthy family of politicians and it was his dad's seat. He was the mayor of Warwick RI before he was a senator. Warwick is your standard suburb.
Does anyone else think it is now too late for Joe to jump in? Seems like the debate was kind of a line in the sand.
Honestly? No. I think could still comfortably jump in within the next few weeks and do just fine. Sure people are tired of speculating, but they're also still talking about it.
