We were at the Moon Palace earlier this year without our kids but it seemed really kid friendly. It is basically three resorts in one. They had a really cool kid pool/activity area on the side we were staying on. I think they also had a kid play room in one of the other main buildings on the other side of the resort. They had a mini golf course and bike rental. The resort is away from the main strip and it didn't have a great beach but the pools made up for it.
We have three kids and are eyeing the Hard Rock due to the larger suite style rooms with enough room for everyone. I only know one person who has been and they loved it.
Dreams in Puerto Aventuras. The kids club is great and the women who work there are super nice and loving.
We stayed in Dreams Tulum a few years ago. It was great. While DS was too young for the kids club, the club looked FUN and I know DS would have had a blast.

I loved Paradisus. We didn't have any kids with us but it's kid friendly I believe. I've been to Cancun 4 times (AI) and it's all the best one by far I've been to. Amazing.
We stayed at The Reef Playacar in Playa. It is a smaller resort, about 200 rooms, on a really nice stretch of beach, and my nieces and nephews seemed to have a good time with the activities. It is about 45 min from Cancun, via shuttle.
We stayed in the Hard Rock, in Cancun (there is also one in the riviera maya). The one in cancun is small, so not too much walking for the kids. They have a fabulous kids club and pool - with slides and very shallow. It is separate from the regular pool, and has its own chairs, etc. My kids loved it. No fighting for chairs and the kids had the pool almost to themselves. They have PBS characters - Angelina Ballerina, Barney and Bob the Builder were there. Their rooms were interesting (tub in the middle of the room), but overall I liked the resort. They gave us a rollaway bed for one of the kids. Food was decent and everyone had a good time! great beach!
Beware, Moon Palace is HUGE! My mom felt it was too big to see everything, and walking with kids would take forever.
I got married at the Azul Beach Hotel. It was amazing and they have amenities catered towards kids. It is a smaller resort, but there are a few other Azul properties down there that are a little bigger. The place also has really good food - the company's "thing" is that they are a gourmet all inclusive.
My friend went to the Hard Rock Cancun with her family and enjoyed it as well.
