i'm taking jonah to children's national today to get reestablished with a pedi-endo and get back on track with his shots. the poor kid's feet are growing but nothing else. he looks like a great dane puppy.
I have never liked meatloaf, but it's DHs favorite so every few years I try a new recipe, hate it, and then forget about it for a while.
I made a good meatloaf last night! DH is happy, he can get meatloaf more often.
We've been having a lot of issues. I was one of the "no" answers in the "are you happy" poll. I was in therapy alone, but it wasn't helping. Tomorrow is our first marriage counseling appointment and I'm really looking forward to it.
It was so hard to get up and moving this morning. Three day weekends still aren't long enough.
I did my good deed for the week yesterday, lol. A friend brought her kids over (they live about an hour away) for the day to cook and hang out. She got a call that her ongoing experiment doing something and she needed to go in to work. I volunteered to keep her two kids so she wouldn't have to take them with her and hope her H could get away from work to get them. OMG, four kids between 1 and 6 are a lot!
Neither H or I had actually heard that whip nae nae song until this weekend. They played it at DS's football thing on Sunday. We felt very old.
We looked at a house for sale near us last night. If the layout of the basement hadn't been so very weird I think we would have bought it on the spot. Even though our realtor said it was overpriced by 50-75k, lol. But it's gotten us motivated to really de-clutter/fix up our house so we can get it on the market.
I am also tired as hell because my dog barked at something for a solid hour before I figured out what in the world she was barking at. GIANT possum sitting on my fence right by the gate. Wouldn't move no matter how much noise I made or what I threw at the fence to try and scare it away (no, I wasn't throwing things AT the possum but I sure wanted to). I think it's been eating my dog's food because her bowl is always tipped over in the AMs and my pup has never had this issue. I'm just glad she's up to date on her shots. I will be calling Wildlife and Fisheries this evening if it returns.
And in other news, I spent $70 on a custom costume for my youngest because she couldn't like anything commercially produced and she fell in love with one on Etsy before I realized I would have to pay an extra $30 for priority shipping and a rush job. ARGH!

Meatloaf recipe pls? I'm glad you're looking forward to counseling. I hope it's helpful!
H had last week and Monday off, and while it was nice to have him around I am SOOOOOO happy to be sitting in my quiet house by myself right now. Now I just need to get motivated to do some work instead of sitting around with GBCN all morning.

Someone posted it on here last week and I pinned it. I can't remember who it was, but this was a good recipe!

Where do you live? Opossums are generally a part of nature and I'd be surprised if calling someone would produce anything. You should definitely stop feeding it, though. They can be pretty nasty fighters if they're cornered, too. Not that I'd keep my dog outside anyway, but I definitely wouldn't keep it outside while an opossum is around.
DH is quitting smoking Yaaaaaaaay! We are on like day 4 or 5, which is the worst of the irritability. I hope he sticks it out for his health and for our future. I also hope I don't knock his cranky butt in the face with a frying pan.
I'm home with a sick baby and he is super pathetic. His eye swelling went down, though. He's trying to fall asleep now, and I kind of want to nap too.. but I feel guilty since DH is coming home in the afternoon and will get no break. Maybe I'll fold my laundry while watching crap tv...

Myles is scared of thunder. We noticed this about a month ago. It stormed around 1 this morning. I was up snuggling him until 2. He still did not sleep well after that. I'm exhausted.

I saw on Facebook this morning that Daniel Tiger Live will be at Uconn in February. Ella loves the DT! I looked and there weren't many great seats left and I don't keep a credit card at the hospital. I texted my brother and he saved the day and bought the tickets for me, DH and Ella to go right after her birthday.
In conversation my brother mentioned he'd been looking at Peppa Pig Live tickets but the "good seat" are $117 each. He just bought Iron Maiden tickets for $100 and couldn't pull the trigger. He later told me he ended up buying tickets for the two of them (sucker). Ella is going to be so excited. Her uncle is quite possibly her favorite human being and she loves Peppa. I'm guessing he found cheaper tickets. He later texted me "I don't know what I'm getting myself into.
I'm so excited because she will be happy and it two presents that aren't stuff. We do not need more stuff in the house by any means. I have been trying to do more experiences, not stuff presents and I a think I'm going to keep going this route. I have my eye on a paint night with friends and a Queen cover and for other friends.
I have another random. We are in serious need of all new furniture. We are still working with post college ikea stuff from 2006 and I can't take it anymore but I also can't afford a house full of new furniture so I've been pinteresting.
I have one dresser almost done for SD2, I'll be starting SD1s dresser in the next few days. We built a double desk from ikea parts thats pretty awesome. DH is building me a farmhouse table and bench sometime before Thanksgiving I hope.
I wanted a hutch and DH found one and bought it for me. He's picking it up today, I'll have to paint or stain it and I don't know what to do with it. The table is going to be darkish wood. I don't know if I should match it, paint it white to lighten up the room, or do a bright color for something different. I don't know what to dooooo!

I could not get to sleep last night because I was too excited about the football game, and being on the West Coast it was over early enough that it shouldn't have mattered. Someone pass me the coffee.
I think I'm starting to get arthritis in my hands. I can't open jars as easily as I used to. I have no hand strength.
I was up till Midnight watching SVU. Took forever to fall asleep too because my hand ached. I have an ergonomic keyboard and mouse already. I think it's because I'm on my damn phone so much.
... I will be calling Wildlife and Fisheries this evening if it returns.

I want to be in on this phone call. "Sir, do you not understand? I like to leave my dog's food outside. At night. And then the possums come and eat it. Annnnd tip it over an leave a mess. I'm a taxpayer for God's sake. Dooooo something!"

I am convinced. CONVINCED that jars are harder to open all of the sudden. Or DH and I are both spontaneously getting arthritis at the same exact time.

At a local zoo this summer, they had this contraption where you squeezed this handle and it would compare your hand stregnth to an ape. I barely measured. My DD beat my level, she's 7.
Feel sorry for my husband. I have morning duty with the sick kid, and dh should be home by 2. With the exception of a 20min crying jag, ds has been asleep since 9:30. It's after 1:00. DH is kinda planning on ds's 2nd nap to get more work done. There's noooo way that's gonna happen.

Maybe don't leave your dog's food outside? Can the dog not come inside to eat?
No, no inside pets per the landlord, unfortunately.

Sorry, @absinthe, I think you're sol here.
W&F absolutely will come trap and humanely release the animal in an area that is safer, but ok. My dog cannot come inside and neither can her food so where do you suppose I feed her?

My post was mostly (actually, entirely) in jest. But your dog lives outside. That I'll happily flame you for.
No, no inside pets per the landlord, unfortunately.
I don't know your situation so I'm not going to jump straight to flaming, I will ask first. How did you come to live somewhere with a dog you can't bring inside?
Sorry for the delay! I am moving offices today within my building.
Having outside only pets is not an uncommon thing where I live, but it's definitely not something I am used to or like at all. The lease says no pets, we had no pets when we moved in (2 year lease) and a dog who had been a stray for quite some time "adopted" our family (well, she really adopted the kids first). Rather than take her to the only shelter in town (kill shelter), we spent a great deal of money at the vet and spent a lot of time acclimating her to just being inside a huge fence in our yard without straying. She's now as much a part of our family and everyday life as she can be. We definitely still feel like assholes sometimes. When it's too hot or too cold, she has a large climate controlled building off the house that she can and does stay in and the landlord is fine with that. When our lease is up, we will absolutely be moving as my landlord will not budge on the pet issue due to the previous tenants having a destructive dog in the house. It's not an ideal situation but one that will be remedied come the first of the year.

I wonder if there's some kind of bowl system out there (usually if you can think of something, someone's invented it) where it only opens when your dog walks up with a special collar on? Like the dog door/collar combos that have a little chip and talk to each other? OR do that special dog door into the climate controlled building and have the food in there?
I know there is a timer feeding system that only opens/feeds when you set it but I agree that the "smart" dog door is an excellent idea I had not thought of and would keep anything else out of her area.
