I've been awake since 1 AM thanks to my pain level not allowing me to sleep. I ended up texting my boss and telling her that I wouldn't be able to make it in this morning, and I'm really upset because I work so hard to not miss work. It feels like a failure every time I do.

Just got back from dropping off a bunch of Comfort Kits and going to the gym. I feel productive.
I am annoyed at my gym - they have been undergoing remodeling for months now with has been a PITA, but manageable, but now they are completely closing Nov 23-Dec 28. "For my convenience" I am able to use 2 other locations, but neither is really that convenient - I go to mine in part because it's the closest location (I can walk there). Annoying. And I'm sure they'll end up being closed longer than they say because, well, when do projects ever get completed on time? Earlier this year they were doing work and the completion kept getting pushed back, and back, and back....
katespade I think you are fine calling in today. That's what sick days are for. I hope you feel better. ((Hugs))
HoneySpider That is SO annoying!!!!!!! I would definitely ask for some sort of free month or a credit to your account. I understand things have to be remodeled and stuff but that seems ridiculous...

travelbug I did ask if they would be crediting us and they said no, basically because they are offering an alternative (it doesn't matter if I like it or not!) And of course they keep telling me how good a deal my membership is already (um, yeah, I pay a low fee because your gym is kind of a dump, that's why I can afford it lol!)
We booked our trip last night but now I am feeling some guilt about spending the money on it. We got the flights for pretty much free but the park tickets and hotel were pricey. It has given me something to look forward to though, which I needed right now.
suzv I always feel the same way when booking vacation. At least right now in our life. Looking forward to something as it starts to get cold helps a lot. I think you made the right choice

I have worn the same outfit 4 of the last 5 days. It is my "Mets are in the playoffs and I'm superstitious" outfit. Same jersey, tank top, bra, and jeans.

Good luck amaranth! I think they will allow you to return your items without too much hassle.
katespade- ((hugs)) Don't feel guilty one bit...that's why there is sick time/PTO! You work your butt off and wouldn't miss unless you needed to. Sometimes you really do have to put yourself first...it's a win for your company in the long run!
HoneySpider- yay for being productive! Boo on the gym...they should be willing to compensate. I would totally be a brat in this situation too
bk1- way to go G!! Hope you have a good day today! How was the zoo!?!?
We have a realtor open house from 10:30-12 today! Of course that means C randomly decided to wake an hour early. He finally fell back to sleep and I had to wake him so he could take a nap before they get here.
So, I posted about neighbor doing constant mechanic stuff over the weekend. I have pictures showing him doing actual work and sent them to code enforcement. Apparently they called him again yesterday because when I took the trash out (holding C, mind you) he says, "Who the f are these people. I hope you f-ing move soon. I'm so sick of this". I had no idea they called until about an hour later, thought it was a random confrontation. To top it off, code enforcement can't really prove he is getting paid and he's telling a bunch of lies. My neighbor friend is getting to the point of calling them because she hates how he's bullying us and that we are moving largely because of him. I hope she calls soon and they do something about it (highly doubtful but I can hope)!
Baby related...C said mama yesterday!! It's his first actual word! He tends to do these awesome milestones when I'm having a rough day...he already knows how to cheer me up!

HoneySpider- Confession: Now that I don't work, I practically live in an outfit for many days (until I feel it's actually time to wear something different). The only thing I change regularly is my underwear and socks (if I wear them, which is rarely)
luv2rn4fun The zoo was fun. G was tired the whole time and didn't nap while we were there. She napped down there during part of the drive from 9:30-10:10 or so and didn't fall back asleep until we left at 3! Then she woke up at 3:30. She had an early bed time. The last two days have been off nap wise so when she napped just over an hour this morning I was thrilled. DH and I enjoyed the zoo. G's favorite was the otter and the fish. She is a water baby for sure.
DH is taking this afternoon off. His aunt got ahold of him and said she thinks her mom (DH's grandma) had a mini stroke. They are at the hospital now. Aunt and grandma live together. I guess aunt didn't want to worry anyone so didn't tell anyone else. Ugh. I'll get the whole story when he is home. I know he wants to go see grandma and check on her. I told DH he better call his dad and tell him what is going on.
So, apparently our appraisal happened yesterday. Our realtor was thinking that the appraisal would be what might stand in the way of closing on time.... so we were definitely not expecting to find out that it has already happened.
Boo I got put on call tomorrow. I have no pto left to cover those last hours. I had to put the nanny on call too, but we're paying her either way.
That sucks but I can't remember the last time we could be on call. So I can't help but being a little jealous. Even though I know I shouldn't be.
We've been on call a LOT this year; otherwise I would be thinking the same as you. Several factors in play to cause that, but it's been hurting paychecks and morale. Our NICU is currently closed (no sick/preemie babies) so their floating the NICU nurses and calling off the nursery nurses, trying to be fair and give people as many hours as possible.
MrsMB- Thank you! He truly is miserable and just doesn't get why everyone has issues with him (some neighbors have confronted him now that we "started" it). He really sucks to live next to...today he's blowing a air horn at C's bedtime (woke him up, thankfully I was still nursing so it was a none issue) and jack hammering away with spotlights shining next to our house. Have fun dude, if that's what makes you happy
So...no good deed goes unpunished. I made DH his lunch (salad with bbq chicken, corn, and black beans). Well, our can opener sucks and doesn't open all the way so I have to use a knife to lift the lid). I put the cans in the trash like normal (lid still up). DH took the trash out (usually I do but he was being extra nice). We have a tiny trash can and it's full so he went to push on the bag...cut his finger really bad He applied pressure and elevated for 30 min while I put C to bed. Still bleeding if no pressure is applied (like gushing blood)...took a picture and sent to my EMT/FF cousin, who said to go to urgent care. DH has to drive 40 min to go get stitches...and he didn't want me to try to find someone to watch C (or wake C up and we all go) so he's driving himself. I feel so bad and hope he's ok (mainly concerned with driving...his finger will heal eventually).
