This doesn't surprise me. His administration has been harsh on immigration. More so than any presidency before him.
As far as TX goes, I guess all amendments except for the 2nd are just suggestions.
Agreed. I think people are surprised. However, (I'll have to look for the source) but I believe that there have been more deportations to South America under Obama than (I don't know how many) presidents before him.

Yes, I know they are automatically citizens. Except for the trump yahoos who don't think they should be. And apparently these lovely folks who are denying them documentation of that citizenship. I'm just wondering what their end game is.
ETA: and yes, citizens cost the country in services. You don't get to pick and choose on that one.
Also, illegal immigrants pay out for SS and so on that they'll never see. But for some reason people don't bitch about that one.
well I don't think they want to 'pick and choose'. They probably don't think anyone should become citizens in this fashion. It's probably a really huge problem and they are attempting to solve it or force others to solve it.
Either people born here qualify as citizens or they don't. You can't say "those people born here don't qualify as citizens because it's too expensive, but other people born here are automatically citizens."
And what happens to people born here whose parents' countries don't recognize them as naturalized citizens? Are you okay with a permanent underclass of stateless people? Within our borders? What did these children do that they'd deserve that fate?
I'm confused what the "probably really huge problem" is.

There are other countries where you can be born there without becoming an automatic citizen, you do however get a birth certificate. Doesn't mean this is the right answer for the U.S. Just that it can be done
