Since I've never done this before, I need help with the logistics. I have to do 5 total, and it just so happens that my ILs house is about a mile from the start. I plan to run to the start from there, do the race, then run back. How close to the start time should I get there? Do I stretch after my warm-up mile?
I wouldnt overthink it. I usually do i warm up mile or two before a 5k. Depending what parking a logistics are, just give yourself time to do a little before, then a little after. Tempo is really slower than 5k pace, so i think youll be fine if you dont get in 5.

I can't do a 5k as a tempo, cause I am all MUST RUN FAST, OMG I WANT TO DIE during 5ks
My standard routine for a 5k is 1 mile warm-up, race, 1 mile cool-down. I try and do my warm-up so I have enough time to go to the bathroom afterward, so I usually aim to be done about 30 minutes before the start. Some folks like to have less time in between, but the bathroom is the important part for me.

Thanks! The course has some monster hills, so I'll be lucky to keep my tempo pace in spots, let alone go all out and race it.
