What do you make?
We have a rose cava I plan to drink post-Turkey trot. We have two bottles of nice red wine for dinner. But I feel like I might want to make a cocktail somewhere in there. We currently have: rum, vodka, rye, and an anejo tequila. My default would be a Manhattan. I one year did a fall sangria thing that involved cava and bourbon, but that gets made by the pitcher and I want to do single batches.
Bonus points for a creative whiskey drink or something fun with vodka.

Bourbon (or rye would work) and cider. I like it with a dash of cinnamon and tiny drizzle of maple syrup (the real stuff) over lots of ice and garnished with an apple slice.
We just drink wine. Usually, we get a "splurge" bottle. This year our splurge bottle wasn't very splurgey, but I'm still excited to drink it.
We bought a $25 bottle of wine from Costco. That is at least twice as expensive as the wine I usually drink! On Sunday, I bought the finest $12 bottle my corner deli had to offer!
Also, I'm not sure I'd want to assault anejo tequila with blue curacao. No blanco shit in our house!
Yes it's Summer-ish. haha
I have this big bottle of Tequila I got in Mexico and I am trying to find a sweet-ish cocktail that will work. I think I should have gotten something other than tequila. I don't like margaritas. So what was I thinking? Rum would have been a better option.

My current favorite win is $9.99 at Costco. Don't even care, it's so good.
Our splurge is usually $50+ but this year it was only $25 ish.

Have you ever made a tequila sunrise? It's a highly underrated cocktail. Tequila, OJ, grenadine. If you want to cut it, a seltzer float works nicely.
I've recently discovered fireball whiskey. OMG. So good.
I am working on a cocktail for friendsgiving. I know you said you want single batches, but my favorite so far is apple cider with orange juice (or you could probably do some sort of orange liqueur) and fireball. Mmm.

This is my bone of contention. We can't drink at his parents' house (there is a history, there, so I get it, to a point, but his mom, as much as I love her doesn't like us to drink at all). It annoys me to no end that we can't have a glass of wine with dinner. I feel like a kid. I have asked H to break this cycle by being the one to have a beer or something, but he's SO PASSIVE with his parents.
We never drank at Thanksgiving either because both of my grandmothers were Baptists. It was the pits. H's family drinks, but they like to get it out of the way before the meal and drink sweet tea during. I hate sweet tea, so I feel like a lush there at the table, still enjoying my wine.
Right? God. And it's not like I'm having multiple glasses, just like half a glass. I just am so tired of being judged (by mostly my MIL in this situation--again, *great* woman and all of that, but, just really... a very virtuous woman. She makes me feel like I'm Pam Anderson. We had dinner once out, and H and I ordered wine, and she just stared my wine glass down with such dismay.), and I'm an adult. I am one of those people I cannot disgrace the hosts, so I won't, but, omg.
This sounds really good! Maybe I'll have H pick up a box of wine or some mini-bottles. I don't think we want to make an entire bottle worth. His parents might drink a little, but it'll probably mostly be the two of us getting sloshed.
I created a seasonal cocktail for my bday party next week.
2 pts bourbon 1 pts spiced pear liquor
Brown sugar simple syrup made with an orange peel in the pan.
Shake and serve over ice. So good.
OK, now you're talking my language. What is this spiced pear liquor? I'm thinking maybe I could just muddle the simple syrup with fresh pear and shake. Do you use any bitters? I'm trying to think what kind would work here - just plain angostura? We also have Fee Brothers orange bitters.

You have inspired me. I am going to try an experiment tonight: pear muddled with brown sugar and orange bitters, topped with rye. If this is good, I will buy oranges and cranberries so I can garnish it with orange peel and cranberries that have been soaked in triple sec.

Please and thank you.
We have something very similar to this at our gathering.
