Soooo my all natural trader joes turkey leaked EVERYWHERE. I had it in my fridge double bagged and still in its wrapper. WTF?!
Cue the blood curdling scream from Psycho. Blood everywhere in my fridge. Just spent 45 minutes pulling out the shelves and racks and disinfecting everything. Omg. The horror. Bonus points because I hate raw meat and have an extreme paranoia about foodborne illness due to getting food poisoning ON thanksgiving one year.
I'm like ready to rock myself in the corner. Why meeee? Lesson learned.
Yep I kind of silently heaved as I did it. Used an entire canister of disinfectant wipes and a roll of paper towels. Took 45 minutes and I still feel like it will *never* be completely clean
Ewww! I HATE raw meat. I don't usually clean with bleach, but I would have used a whole bottle.
You should have seen me cleaning out my kitchen sink after H rinsed the turkey in it. I embraced the bleach. Raw meat is so gross.
The first time I ever cooked a turkey, I was on the phone with my mom. And I was all, " I have to rinse it?! In my sink?! I don't even want to touch it!" Gag.
Oh yes you have to rinse it, it's very important, and I usually dry them out as well. Take a peek inside, as some companies include the giblets in a little bag inside the bird.

Yep, you definitely need to dry it well, otherwise when you slather it with butter it won't stick!
I'll never forget the time my mom made a turkey and forgot to take the little plastic baggie out. She debated whether the turkey was contaminated or not, but we ate it anyway, lol!
You all are cracking me up! In a very endearing way, I promise. Touching raw meat doesn't bother me at all, but I will not, under any circumstances, touch soggy cereal. EEEEWWWW!
You have all my sorries. If it makes you feel any better I knocked over a giant glass bottle of olive oil trying to light a pilot light on an old stove minutes before I had to get the turkey in. Olive oil and glass everywhere. And the gas was on and not lit. But we survived and thanksgiving was lovely. Bedtime soon for all.

Oh man. Olive oil isn't as gross as raw meat, but I bet that was a bitch to clean up.
