I know you guys are pretty good about knowing which charities to trust and which ones do the best work.
This is my first year at my company. Our CEO hands out a $100 bill to all employees at the Christmas party and asks us to do something good with it. Is Kiva a good organization? I like the idea of keeping that money going as it gets paid back and adding to it each year.
I would do a local food bank or domestic violence shelter. Either buy $100 of food/toiletries/diapers to donate or give them the $100 to spend as needed.

Internationally I like Doctors Without Borders and Charity Water.
Domestically, Give Kids the World is a wonderful organization in the Orlando area that works with wish families to bring kids with life threatening illnesses to Disney and Universal. They have a huge resort with wheelchair accessible villas, a bunch of fun things to do on property, and fun daily events:
One of the benefits of Kiva is that your investment money will be paid back with some interest, and you can turn around and reinvest it again. A small group of friends got together and pooled our money and our original amount has grown quite a bit so we're able to fund multiple people at a time now.
