I'm seeing no non-photo holiday cards this year that I like, so I'm thinking of going the photo card route for the first time. Would it be weird for a couple with no children to do that? And to put photos of vacations on the card? Some of which are of random animals we saw and not of us? There are like 3 okay photos of the two of us from the past year and 1 is my FB profile picture (weird to use, right?) and so if we put 4 photos on the card, at least 2 would not be of us. Also, is it braggy to put vacation photos on and/or weird to have, say, beach-related photos on a holiday card?
I suspect I am overthinking this, but thanks for your thoughts
I love photo cards from all of my friends, not only those with kids. If it were my I would leave off the animals and do just one or two photos of the two of you. If you don't have one that you love, it's not too late to get one! Grab a camera and take a few this weekend!
We've done holiday photo cards, just the two of us and both times they were pictures of us on vacation. One had random animal pictures in addition to pics of us because they were all pics from our safari (apparently at least one of our friends' kids liked our card the best that year because of all the animals .
If they're not all pics from one vacation or clearly part of a theme, I might not do random animals. Why not do just one good photo of the two of you?
Because the photos of us are okay to use on a card, if not too big and not the focal point. None are anything I'd want to see in 4x6
I feel terrible, terrible, terrible about how I look right now and both of us hate having our photos taken generally so no fucking way am I going out to try to get more photos to work with!!! Not until I lose 30 pounds and turn 30 again. That we got 3 photos out of this year that don't make me want to cry when I look at them is an accomplishment.
But I do think I'm pretty decent with a camera and I have what I would consider some pretty fantastic photos generally from the last year -- but they're of sea lions and turtles and cows and sheep and buildings and such
Maybe this means that we should just stick with non-photo cards. I wish I found one of those that actually says something about us. I had a good run for a few years with NY-themed cards, but I think I've already used all that I like.
DH and I can't stand holiday cards of just the kids and not the parents. Go ahead and use vacation pictures - you might have someone ask you travel advice.
I have a friend that does this. Usually, her cards are a montage of pics taken from vacations but they also make sure to include their cats. I love 'em!

I like to see people on a card (kids not required lol), but I might think it was a weird to get a photo card of just random animals. I would still hang you on my photo card wall like everyone else, though
We have done this several times. We usually include photos of us on vacation, a photo of our dog, and another couple of vacation photos without us in them. We have a lot of friends without kids who do something similar. So I vote not weird.
Also, I much prefer to get cards with photos. And I agree with the other posters. I like seeing parents in the photos too. I don't like it when just the kids are in there.

Every year I get a card from my mentor with her amazing vacations (safaris, Galapagos trip, Antarctica, etc.) and I always look forward to it. Go for it!

I agree. I want to see the whole family, not just the kids. We keep the family pics and toss the ones that are just kids.
Am I right in thinking you went to Galapagos this year? If I got a turtle card in the mail I might just leave it up past New Years when I normally pitch cards.
Our card this year has two pics of us on (different) vacations. Obviously I think this is fine and I enjoy getting pics of my friends doing fun things. The only photo cards that annoy me are the ones that only have kid pics.
I'd include one photo of you and the rest of your vacation. My photo cards this year have 2 pictures of me racing bikes. My relatives seem to enjoy receiving them.
Yes - do it! Photo cards are the best, regardless of the presence of children in them. And I agree with what someone else said - it annoys me when the parents aren't anywhere on the card.
I have not read all the other posts but we have done cards of trips, races or good photos of us every Christmas since we have been married. If this is wrong I don't want to be right.
My favorite one was when Christmas was on a Wednesay in 2013. We went to Dubai that year so our card cover had a photos of camels asking guess what day Christmas is and when you opened it, there was a photo of us on a camel with HUMP DAY in a word ballon thing. It was hilarious.
There is no Christmas card rule that they are only reserved for parents. Frankly i wish our cards were more whole family photos instead of just a photo of the kids or just the pets.
