Hope your Thanksgiving was fantastic -- and you had plenty of yummy things for dinner. What are you reading while you hide in the bedroom to avoid Uncle Arthur and his political incorrect discussions?
Not Friday here yet but H is sleeping off his turkey so I'm here. Reading
GRR Martin - A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms (for the book published this year in the reading challenge) - good, but I wish he'd hurry up and publish book 6 already
Stephen King's Finders Keepers (audiobook) - very good
QOTW - maybe once every 3 years when we get around to it. I got our cards for this year already.
dorothyinAus I was wondering if you're Aussie or an American expat...either way Hapoy Thanksgiving!
I'm an American. I grew up in New Orleans. I moved to Australia to be with my Aussie husband in 2011.
Yesterday when I was out and about, I wished the check-out clerk a Happy Thanksgiving and got an earful from the guy behind me in line because "it's not an Australian holiday." I just smiled sweetly and said "Well, since I'm not an Australian, Happy Thanksgiving to you too."
I'm doing Thanksgiving dinner on Saturday so my holiday is a bit extended. And then I'll decorate for Christmas on Sunday.

I'm reading Johnno to try and knock out the last unstarted task on my Ultimate Reading challenge. I have three other tasks in progress that will be finished by Dec. 31. It's okay, but I'm having trouble getting into it. It reminds me very much of A Prayer for Owen Meany, and I'm not sure if that is a good thing or a bad thing.
QOTW: I send out cards every year. I buy nice cards when they are on sale after Christmas for the next year. I'm actually getting mine done right now. I write personal notes in each card so it takes me a while.

I can see how people would feel differently about religious holidays, but when people wish me a happy [whatever holiday I don't celebrate], it seems like they're trying to wish me well, which I consider a good thing. I really don't get why he'd be up in arms over happy Thanksgiving!

I finished If You Only Knew by Kristan Higgins the other day. I have the next Robert Galbraith (JKR) book, Career of Evil ready to go. Everyone seems to love it, so I'm looking forward to it.
QOTW: Yes, I send cards. Mine should be ready next week.

I send Christmas cards the second week in December.
Between Thanksgiving and today, I finished Newt Gingrich's spy thriller "Duplicity" (very exciting, not partisan) and "Black Flags: the Rise of Isis." The latter has so much excellent info.
I love history and am reading a book about McKinley next.
20,000 Legues Under the Sea. I've never read it before and I'm liking it so far. My only (petty) complaint is that it doesn't have page numbers AND it's part of the "collected works". I'm still only one percent in! I hate not knowing how far I am in a book and how much is left.
QOTD: we never send holiday cards, but I'm thinking about it this year.

I enjoyed that, too, largely because it was so different from what I was expecting so it kept me wondering.
I also hate lack of page #s and lack of knowing how far ahead until the next convenient stopping point. It's even worse for audiobooks!

Sometimes a book won't have page numbers but it's linked to audible and it will say there's "8 hours and 43 minutes left in book". Not helpful!

I hate that as well. I do find on my old Kindle 2nd Generation, there are on some books chapter markers in the progress bar at the bottom, but not on all books. It's the one thing I miss most when reading on the Kindle -- how hard it is to tell where you are in the book. And reading on my phone with the "1 hour left in book" is not at all helpful, since sometimes I don't read as fast as others.
