I've seen both reports that it was near the clinic and that the shooter was actually inside the clinic. So I guess it depends on where you read the info.

Colorado Springs police are responding to an active shooter in the parking lot of the Planned Parenthood on Centennial Blvd.

Officers say the gunman is firing at passing cars.

Police report that one officer was hit, but they have not said how badly the officer was hurt.

Law enforcement has closed the northbound lanes of Centennial Blvd. at W. Fillmore St.

Police say the area is not secure, and are asking for people to avoid the area.

There's only 1 clinic in the springs. It actually does (or did, it's been a few years since I've volunteered with rmpp) abortions.

A gunman holed up in a Planned Parenthood office in Colorado Springs Friday opened fire repeatedly through windows, injuring at four people, including two police officers, according to police and local media reports.

Mike Violette, executive director of the Colorado Fraternal Order of Police, said on Twitter, "Shooter barricaded in planned parenthood & multiple victims."

The injured police officer was shot in the hand, and a second officer was also wounded, law enforcement authorities told KKTV.

The shooter was described as a gunman in a long coat with a hunting-type hat.

"Rounds are coming through the window," one police officer told the dispatcher on the police scanner.

A dispatcher said one patient was wounded at Elite Vision, an eye care center near Planned Parenthood on Centennial Blvd, The Gazette reports.

One officer relayed by radio that the gunman shot out the back window of his patrol car as the officer tried to "get a look at him," the newspaper reports.

At another point, a cop, speaking to the dispatcher, said, "We have another officer down by the dumpster."

Police warned that the area was "not secure" and cautioned the media to stay clear of the building.

An active shooter was reported near a Planned Parenthood in Colorado Springs.

The office is at 3480 Centennial Blvd.

Scanner traffic indicated at least two officers were down, one near a dumpster, and another taken by ambulance to a hospital. A dispatcher said one patient was wounded at Elite Vision, located an adjacent building at 3470 Centennial Blvd. A later dispatch said at four were injured and an officer was heard requesting an ambulance. Another officer indicated wounded patients were being taken to Penrose Hospital, 2222 N. Nevada Ave.

Officers from the Colorado Springs Police and the Colorado State Patrol are at the scene with guns drawn and pointed in the direction of the Planned Parenthood clinic. Multiple fire engines and ambulances were parked along Centennial Boulevard.

At least one victim was taken by stretcher to an ambulance shortly after noon.

Three police officers with guns draw were pointing their weapons in the vicinity of Planned Parenthood.

One officer said on his radio that the gunman shot out the back window of his cruiser as the officer tried to "get a look at him. A dispatcher said the gunman wore a long coat with a "hunting-type" hat.

Police closed Centennial Boulevard in both directions and Fillmore Street east of Centennial. Customers were locked down at a King Soopers grocery store and several nearby shops at Fillmore Street and Centennial Boulevard,

The PP where I work has a lobby with bulletproof glass and doors into actual medical part of building are big, metal, and locked. Someone would have a hard time getting at anyone. I do not know how common that is, though.

Denver Post is reporting multiple civilians injured, but I don't think anyone knows details yet because the shooter is still active.  


"At least three police officers and multiple civilians have been injured in an ongoing active shooter situation at or near a Colorado Springs branch of Planned Parenthood on Friday afternoon.

"We have confirmed that we have three officers that are injured. There are unknown number of civilians who have been injured," Police Lt. Catherine Buckley said. "The situation is still unstable, and the shooter is not contained."

In watching this unfold live. We got stuck in the traffic in our way home and drove down Centennial right before it was closed off.

It's a mess, they are bringing out victims in a seat vehicle and loading right into ambulances. We were going to go hang Christmas lights outside but they are saying to shelter in and not go outside.

What an effing mess.

And the media in the Springs sucks. God I miss Kyle Clark.
