I finally strung light on the tree up and down, instead of dpiraling around. Took less than 30 min instead of over 2 hours and looks just as well-lit. Life changing, I will never dread lighting the tree again. I also had to admit to DH he was right about this all these years.

Wait...what?
I did this last year for the first time. It was so much easier and looked really nice.

Went out for pizza tonight with my family. One was mashed potatoes and bacon and amazing.
A group of 8 middle school aged boys came in while we were there. They spent a long time trying to figure out how much pizza they could order based on the money they had and how best to split it up. My dad went over to the counter and quietly bought them a pizza. They all came over later and shook his hand and said thank you. I was so pleased that he thought to do it and that they were all so polite.

I think this is the cutest thing. I love watching kids do that.
Your dad is awesome and I'm happy those kids knew enough to come shake his hand and thank him on their own.

2 hours?? How big is your tree?!?!
7 1/2ft, nothing crazy. But I wrapped around every bloody branch and twig, weaving in and out. And starting from the top, the lights were out until I finished the strand. So even though I checked the strand before starting, inevitably at least one of the strands would not light by the time I finished so I'd be hunting for the issue or ripping it out and buying new lights; it has always involved cursing and misery.

I do a combo. Acouple ft up and down but spiral that. Always looks perfectly random
I have a painful lump in my upper lip. It's closer to my nose than my lip. I'm not sure what's going on. It doesn't seem to be a canker sore or a cold sore. It feels giant.

One sweet potato pie was apparently not enough for this household of 3. I'm back in the kitchen.
Sigh.
Growing up we always aimed for one per visiting family, plus two for eating day of plus the one we hid in the crisper for ourselves. That's around 15 pies.
What I learned was always have extra sweet potato pie.

Did you send a pie home with people? That is A LOT of pie!

I think the blood is mainly from irritated mucous membranes. But if I'm not improved tomorrow I might try and get in.
Okay.
Try? You mean will, right? Don't want this to turn into pneumonia.
Well, I'm trying to be realistic. If I can really rest today (which has been a hit and miss prospect all weekend) and I'm not better tomorrow, then yes, I'll go. We have nothing scheduled, so there's that at least. And my H is now kinda realizing that this isn't just the man cold he had earlier, so he's stepping up.

In HILARIOUS news, yesterday on the drive up to my folks house I saw the most magnificent outdoor Christmas decorations. It was a full nativity scene - full size manger with Mary, Joseph, baby Jesus, angel, etc.
But in place of the Star of Bethlehem, there was this:
