So, my sister and I were in Sally's the other day so she could get some dye for her hair. She often does her own hair and has done every color in the rainbow and it ALWAYS turns out. I have wanted to do a fun color for a long time so I was all
We get the bleach and the dye (shark blue in case your interested) and I'm like
so we get home, put the bleach on my hair and it feels like a thousand suns scratching my scalp. After rinsing my hair it looked this
My sister is all
and I'm all
So, being the trusting person that I am I'm just like
Except halfway through she runs out of hair dye
She finishes that half, ensuring me that it will all work out
So, she gets home and we rinse the dyed half and do the other side. When we go to rinse it out I look at my sister and she's all
And I look in the mirror and see why
I have a bright blue halo and the rest is a slightly chlorine green color with random spots of bright blue throughout. It is SO BAD you guys. Never again will I trust anyone but a professional.

My sister feels soooooo bad. I think its kinda funny lol. I should have trusted my gut and not done it, so I have only myself to blame. I have an appointment tomorrow to try and fix it, fingers crossed they can.
This year, everything you buy for her for Christmas should be blue. And next year and the year after. She needs to be reminded that she's in your debt for life.

Also, (hug) I once dyed my hair traffic cone orange. I was hiding under the covers in my room when my roommate came home. I rocked it like it was intentional for a week or two, then went to have it color corrected and have never, ever attempted a home dye again.
It looks like you probably needed to bleach twice. That was definitely not enough lift for a blue, which needs a really white base. Is your sister's natural hair color lighter than yours?
If you're going to still go blue with your stylist, ask if they use Olaplex. It's amazing and keeps your hair texture really soft & shiny even with regular bleaching.
Did I ever tell you the story of how I let my sister cut my hair when I was in eighth grade? Right before the eighth grade dance? No? Okay, that's good. I'll just say that my nickname for the rest of the year was helicopter-head. And, I kid you not, kids I didn't even know would come up and ask who cut my hair because it looked so awful and they didn't want to go to the same place.
Otherwise I have nothing to add except I'm sorry and she's lucky you're the nice sister who doesn't believe in revenge. Excellent job story-telling. Bravo. And this seems to be appropriate here:

I agree with everything @ameliapond said. It was likely an error in lifting the color, but since it didn't stain your hair too much they should be able to correct it (hopefully) easily. Olaplex basically saved my BFF's hair when she stripped out layers of dye and went lavender grey. Made it sooo much softer.
Sorry for the blue incident! Considering I do my own hair, I have definitely had some "oh shit" moments. You're a trooper!
Omg I'm so sorry! But I'm also laughing hysterically.
I did this when I was 14. Saved up $20, bought Blue Manic Panic when my mom was out pf town for work, and my friend and her mom helped me. It died only the roots and the very tips, a sea foam green. The lady at the salon told me it was because I had used conditioner when I washed it before applying the dye.
My mom was pissed and I used dish soap to try to strip the color. It worked, a little.
