I feel like every time I get up from my chair, everything hurts. So I waddle for a little. Except it looks weird bc I barely look pregnant, so I just look like an old lady or something.
I'm having the same problem when I stand up. I'm sure I look ridiculous.
And I agree that picking a name is hard. But I think we have figured out the name. I'm excited for him to come so we can tell people.
My random is that I really wish my coworkers would stop chuckling at me as I waddle down the hall. I already don't want be her, laughing at me doesn't help!
cgpm - That's mean that they laugh! Boo on them! And we won't share the name we've chosen until she is here either. We don't want comments or opinions. It's our child, we choose her name.
you guys are smart - we somewhat accidentally shared our choices with family...rookie mistake on our part for sure.
work is throwing me a little shower tomorrow...i hate small talk and being the center of attention...but everyone i work with is so nice, so i shouldn't be stressed about it - but i am. blah.
i am so tired of being out of breath. i need this baby to drop...just an inch or so would be AWESOME.
I am suddenly feeling so unprepared...baby's room is looking like storage...handmedowns haven't been cleaned...necessities haven't been bought...i hadn't even thought about a hospital bag...and what are we doing with our current kids when i go into labor?! yeah...we need a plan.
I also have become a waddler, but not because I'm massive, just because it huuurrrrtttsss. Everything below my waist hurts. and I have heartburn. (ok that's not why I waddle but I just wanted to whine about it for a sec. Lol). H picked our name and... I don't love it but it means a lot to him so I let him have it. Its a great name, but very popular (its Noah), and having grown up with the most popular name for most of the 80's, i always felt so unoriginal because everywhere I go 35 Jessicas follow. Lol. So I made him let me choose the middle name, instead of using his middle. I feel like a terrible wife but I hate his middle name, and we already have a complicated Brazilian last name, I don't want him to constantly be spelling/explaining his middle and last. I'm pretty sure I'm overthinking it, but thats what's been on my mind lately. Lol.
I've had several people at my work, neighbors, and people at DH's work tell us straight to our faces, "Well, you'll just have to wait on your gift if you're not going to tell us the name or initials!"
Ok I'm a patient person I'm sure I'll loved your monogrammed gift after she is born just as much:) Trust me in that we believe wholeheartedly that we made the right decision keeping her name a surprise. Your empty threats mean nada....
I look like a 90 year old woman every time I stand up. In public, I try to hide it and just take it slow. At home, I just go with it. I hurt!
We kept our other boys' names a secret and have with this one, too. Besides that we don't want to hear opinions, we wanted some kind of surprise for people when he gets here.
I still can't believe in eight weeks or less I will have a newborn again. My other guys are 6 and 4. While they are still young, it's a whole new world out there in baby central. Plus, I feel so much older. It doesn't help that I am the only of my friends to have another. They are all done with the baby phase. I hope I can figure this out...lol. I also laugh bc with my other two boys, I knew everything that was out there having to do with babies. I am so clueless now. We finally did set up his nursery. I promise this was done at 20 weeks with DS1 (I am 33 weeks).
jd15 - I am sure the shower will be fun - don't stress it and just enjoy the cake And I am sure you're more prepared than you think. It will all come together when it needs to!
slcjess - I feel you on the heart burn! And I chose the first name, so I will let my H choose the middle. Except this is proving to be harder than we thought. We're trying to combine Indian and Italian names and it's just...strange? But I think we can make it work.
MrsMB - That's funny that they think holding a gift hostage will make you share the name. Nope, not going to happen!
We shared Hobbes' name pretty openly and early. I don't think we got a single negative comment about it - maybe because we chose family names, so people felt it'd be more rude than average to say anything bad about? She shares a first name with one grandmother and a middle name with the other.
Annoying paperwork thing: we got her birth certificate last Friday. Yay! She's all official. Except... the hospital misreported her sex, so it says she's male. M'er F'er. So now we have to work with the hospital and the city records department to correct that. It's not as easy as you'd think.
I'm a waddler too. I was surprised at how early that started. H still doesn't know the sex of the baby, but everyone else knows, and they also know the name we chose. Fortunately no one has criticized it. I was feeling pretty on top of things, only to look at my to-do list and realize that there is so much left to do.

I think it's a really good name for your son because it easily crosses both cultures and can be easily pronounced in Portuguese. The popularity is a little irksome (I get it, I have a super popular name from the late 80s/early90s) but it's still a lovely name.

I'm pregnant with my first and just got his room painted this weekend. (I'm 31w, lol). He still has no furniture. whoops. You guys should definitely feel bad for my subsequent children, I can barely pull my shit together for #1. hahaha.

Oh, thank you. I needed to hear that, ha. It does sound good in both languages, although I did tell him he can't say his middle name in Portuguese because I don't like how that sounds (its Scott, after my brother. But it sounds like 'Scotch' in Portuguese. Haha) And i guess its good he has an easy, short first name since we have this monster of a last name. LOL!

We shared the baby's name with DH's family last week and didn't get any negative comments. We did, however, only get a few positive comments, but whatever, I've decided not to read into that.
Of course I got a BabyCenter email today about how much more popular that name is becoming. Ugh.
My random: I find the baby's movements to be very comforting. DH and I got home from a weeklong trip last night to find our house flooded, and it's been a lot of stress since then. Feeling the baby's movements helps soothe me.
I've told a couple of people the 2 names we're considering. They know better than to say anything negative about our choices. I'm picking her middle name because it will be a family name from my family. H's contribution to a family name is his surname.
I'm getting the occasional braxton hicks contraction and it's making me really nervous. I wish I didn't have the threat of premature labour hanging over my head.
My H still refuses to discuss names. I've narrowed it down to 6 names that I like, so at this point he better like one of them or this kid will be nameless.

Lol, I'm sorry you didn't get one of the shorter ones, like Silva. I can sympathise. We have a 4 syllable Spanish name. This hasn't stopped us considering a 4 syllable first name, though. OMG I totally feel you on Scotch. In Brazil, my name sounds like "Kay-tchee", and that's not even the long version of my name (which I have never attempted to go by there).

I've been getting occasional BH for a few weeks now, so it's not necessarily a problem. But I know you really don't need anything else that adds to the premature labor anxiety.
We picked out a name and have told people. First name is June, middle name is Virginia (which is a family name on H's side). We've gotten mostly good responses, my mom and grandma tried to convince me of a different name but that was completely expected and I really could not care less. We even have a nickname for her we use. I figure, if someone is rude enough to comment on our name, I can tell them to F off. We both love it, we decided on it right after we found out I was pregnant before we knew she was a girl.
I love feeling the movement but it's weird to me how low it is. Like, I feel it down by my vagina. Apparently that could mean she is standing up and that's good? I don't know.
We picked out furniture that is way more than I planned to spend, so I am officially DONE buying anything else until after my shower in January IF I still need any necessities at that point. A big UPS box came today and I'm pretty sure it's the BOB but I'm waiting until H gets home to open it.
Based on the length of my 13w fetus' legs...I'm guessing I'm gonna birth a 3 foot tall newborn.
This baby was 150% of the "anticipated" length (measured at just above 16") according to all of my books/ apps, etc. and was measuring 2 weeks ahead at 21 weeks. I feel so much bigger now- so I can only imagine how much bigger he is going to be when he actually comes!

Naaah...you are right on track. I was just obsessed with The Bump the first time around and that place makes you crazy. The 2nd time I was in a daze and didn't have much to do bc DS1 was still young and the nursery was all set up. This guy? Well, hmmm. I just don't know. I bought a carseat, so yay!!

I have a car seat too, so at least we can legally bring him home! Good thing they don't come check for a crib or cute nursery decor or we'd probably have to live at the hospital. Hahaha

My stepsister also married a Brazilian and she got Lima. Not fair! im sorry you also have a clunky last name but glad to have someone to commiserate with! Ha.

slcjessloira I am married to a Brazilian too and we are going through the name debates constantly. I really want something that works in both languages without much change in pronunciation, and I am not a big fan of really Latin/hispanic sounding names (like Pedro, Eduardo, Carlos, etc). Girl names are easy but I am having a hard time with boy names. The only name that fits that criteria that I like is Lucas, but it's suuuuper popular right now so not really on the table. We seem to be coalescing around some Italian names at the moment...
My husband drives me crazy when we discuss names. It starts out fine and then 2 minutes in he starts suggesting we name our kids Bella, Jacob, and Edward. I'm not naming my kids after Twilight or 90210 or Star Wars.
DH and I don't have a consensus on names yet. I'm hoping he sways in my direction, and I think he's hoping I'll sway his. I think I need to search again in hopes of finding something neutral that we both like. Last time we had a name figured out by this time but didn't share and my mom was relentless about us sharing his name. But she's the one who was most likely to protest it, so no way I was sharing. Luckily this time I have a good excuse, that we don't know yet.
OMG the leg cramps. I jumped out of bed right after the alarm this morning to a horrible charlie horse. I don't remember getting these with DS1.
I think we have our name. James Matthew. I don't mind sharing. We haven't received any negative comments. If anything, my mom will tell us it's boring. It's so grown up that it does feel weird calling the baby by name.
I have my 24 week appt this afternoon. I feel like I've gotten huge over the last couple of weeks so I'm afraid to get on the scale.
