I agree that they won't be able to completely shut it down, but I think at the same time a huge group of students should do a Zombie crawl or something - so like they all go out where the gun weirdos have their cardboard guns in zombie clothes and covered in blood and slowly surround them while they blare "Monster Mash" or some weird song opposite of the gunfire noises. Oooo, maybe they could break into a flash mob-type dance after like 10 minutes also.
Nope, not the correct reaction. Sorry, in a school where there hasn't a bunch of dead and wounded people around from an actual mass shooting, where there aren't iconic pictures of survivors gathering afterward creating a sea of blank faces in shock, zombies might be okay, NOT HERE.
These FUCKING FUCKERS need their damn mamma's to take them home and beat some fucking sense into them.
Sorry, I didn't intend to be insensitive, but was.

“We want criminals to fear the public being armed,” Short said.
I don't think people who commit mass shootings fear the public being armed. A lot of them are on a suicide mission to begin with. And they might find the idea of a public shootout exciting. They already know the cops are going to show up and it doesn't deter them, why would the idea that Joe College Student has a CCW deter them?

I do like the idea for somewhere else though.
The insentivity of these idiots is what is making me rage. To "fake" a mass shooting this in a place where a real mass shooting actually happened and where, if even every damn student was carrying that day, it would not have helped at all, is just so damn insensitive and insulting. I'm raging for the victims, for the survivors that have to deal with this, for all the history teachers banging their heads against walls, for all us sane people having to deal with these idiots.
And I do realize I'm raging about it here and no one here is the problem, sorry for that.
My uncle taught history at UT-A. I think I shall post this to my wall after all.
My niece (brother's daughter) is going to a different college in Austin. My hesitance was because she's pro-CCW. I don't want to hear that she's participated or participating. I'm hoping she's too busy with her pre-med classes, her "small business" (MLM) and selling her puppies (one dog, papered with champion bloodlines and bred to a champion male so is that BYB?)
DH's uncle was actually there on campus as a student the day of the shooting. I'm sure he'd have a few words for these fools making light of a horrific day.
Funny. I have sometimes thought that a staged mass shooting could be used to show people who insist that they could stop a shooting that their hero fantasies are just that, but then I think about it more and realize that there's just no way to pull it off that wouldn't be terrible.
UT made a statement thtbif the group goes through with their plans they can and will be arrested for criminal trespassing.
Are they going to be good law-abiding citizens and stay home so they don't end up arrested or are they going to try to stick it to the man and do it anyway?

They've moved the demonstration off campus property but it's right next to campus now (I'm not exactly sure what that means though.)
This is from the groups FB event description for what's supposed to happen on Saturday -
"We must work to end Gun Free Zones in Texas so Saturday Dec 12th we will gather at 11:30am at 2426 San Antonio St, Austin Texas for an open carry walk with our rifles and legal black powder pistols. At noon we will walk down Guadalupe St next to the UT campus. Ending the walk back at the meet up point, San Antonio Parking Garage. After putting up our guns we will return to the UT campus to put on a theatrical performance starting at 2:30pm. This will be an epic event. See you all there! *Crisis Actors Needed In the wake of yet another gun free zone shooting, Obama is using it to aggressively push his gun confiscation agenda. Now is the time to stand up, take a walk, speak out against the lies and put an end to the gun free killing zones."
"People were able to be murdered people because no one was armed.”
Yeah, these geniuses sound like just the guys to save the "murdered people."
On a more serious note, this seems like a terrible, terrible plan. Even if they don't get shot by a wanna-be hero, they are going to absolutely terrify students, staff, and faculty at UT. Can the university stop them using public safety reasons?
Also, there was at least one person who had a concealed gun his person during the shooting in San Bernardino, but he chose not to draw or fire it because it would have just added to the chaos and potentially lead to more deaths/injuries. He was interviewed that afternoon on local news, but I'll try to see if I can find a clip.
I'm late to this thread, but I'm having trouble coming up with a worse idea than staging a mock mass shooting on a college campus complete with recorded gun noises and actors portraying wounded people with fake blood.

How about staging a mock mass shooting on a college campus complete with recorded gun noises and actors portraying wounded people with fake blood at a college campus where a real mass shooting happened with real gun noises and real people being killed and wounded covered in real blood, and those real people having firearms would not have helped them at all?
Yeah, what you said is a terrible idea. What is happening here *is* the worse idea.
You said it better than I originally tried to Velvetshady . Maybe they'll even restage the tower shooting to include the armed civilian who went up the tower with the police officers to capture the shooter. Because hey, it took an armed civilian to take down the shooter, or at least help the police. Maybe this time they can even use an all-civilian force, no need for the professionals.

Exactly. Do these idiots think that a staged, scripted mass shooting = actual unstaged shooting? Real life is not a video game. You don't KNOW when a deranged, gun carrying murderer might show up and start unloading a weapon into your board meeting. That's the thing about these shootings. They are not predictable. Having a gun does not mean you will react in a way that will make the situation SAFER.

This seems an appropriate place to share this fuckery making its way around my FB with the gun nuts. All I can think of is some dumbass endangering every one:

I had to bump this back up because these chucklefucks were on the Today show fucking laughing and giggling and smiling about this mock mass shooting they're holding. They showed the ridiculous cardboard assault rifles the cut out, and the "gun noises" they're using are a recording of someone literally saying "Bang! Bangbangbang!" This was especially hilarious to them as they replayed the recording a couple times. The fact that folks can turn something as dangerous as a gun and as serious and frightening as an active shooter into a goddamn comedy hour is exactly why we don't need every swinging dick in the country carrying for the hell of it. This should not be accepted as normal.
