Had a nice day. Went to church. It's only the second time we've been and the first since potty training so I was a little worried about how B would do in the toddler room but he had a blast. Everyone is so friendly. I think we may end up joining the congregation. DH was reluctant for years because he's an atheist but this (Unitarian) church is just about justice and truth and love etc. It's very inclusive.
Then I napped for the longest time. B wet the bed he napped so long. I took him on a walk to see the ice skating rink. Now it's almost bedtime. DH and I are going to watch "It's a Wonderful Life."

We go (intermittantly) to a UU church and it's a great fit. We were looking for a non-dogmatic church community that was focused on social justice. We really should go more often.

So some truth about GBCN came out in my relationship today LOL. A few days ago I was idly commenting to DW about how someone was new because they "only had 55 posts". Today she's like "so....how many posts do you have?" I was like "uhhhh, remember that we've all been posting for 3.5 years" and "I'm not even close to having the most posts". Thank goodness I don't have to explain TOO much about the GBCN get together to her since it's in my city.
We took DD to get Santa pictures today and it came out really cute. It's going as a regular print inside non-photo Christmas cards because it took us so long to get a good picture of her we ran out of time to print cards.
We also tried solid food for the first time. We did sweet potatoes and DD was very WTF about the whole thing and gagged a bunch. I wasn't counting on the first time being a success, so we'll keep trying and see what works.

My DH was raised Catholic and is now agnostic and I am atheist. He is interested in UU more for the community aspects and wants to start attending with DD once we move. I am the reluctant one, but I'm glad to read that your husband likes it. Maybe I should give it a chance.
You guys the stories in this thing. If they were posted on a message board no one would believe them.
A tamer story: my great uncle (straight outta Germany) befriended a Russian. They were dicks to each other. The Russian committed suicide and left my great uncle a copy of Mein Kampf. LOLOLOLOLOL.
If I disappear anytime soon it's because I've murdered my husband in his sleep and am serving life in prison. How is it possible to snore this loudly and not wake yourself up!?
This morning SS asked why dad has been sleeping on the couch a lot. Ugh, this is why!

DD had a day of perfect naps! 1.5 hours in the morning (being worn, she slept on me all through church and coffee hour), 3 hours in the afternoon in the swing and the a 30 min evening cat nap in her car seat/snap n go while I did xmas shopping.
So now we are just going to hang out for a bit before an 8pm ish bedtime.
We did a Christmas activity that sounds good on social media - decorating cookies as a family. Aka Bas licking icing and sprinkles off two reject cookies while I decorate the nice ones and H tries to contain the mess and the toddler. The sprinkles, omg, we will be crunching them underfoot for weeks.
This was us and gingerbread houses. Entire boxes of candy were dropped on the floor. Icing everywhere. But fun!

Msniq tried making cookies with V today, I feel like I should have made her sign "so you know this is going to be a complete and utter mess, and food waste and food mess are sore spots for you" informed consent paperwork.
The cookies are delicious and we got some good pictures.
So we were over an hour away from home (against my best judgement) eating dinner before driving through this "famous" Christmas light display. Things are going ok. I decided to feed and change the baby before we drove to get in the huge traffic line for this thing. Turns out when we put the third row up our car wipes got taken out of the car. Thanks to some water and Starbucks napkins we got DS situated. Mom fail.
We sat in the car line for over an hour for 10 minutes of lights. My parents were talking about next year and I told them we'd do it again in 10 years when we had less car seats and older kids. We had to uninstall and reinstall one of the seats each time my parents had to get in the third row, so 6 times in one night. Third row SUVs were not built with 70 year olds in mind.
My mom has my handprints with a poem very similar to this from 1984. She still has it displayed in her office. Lol
My mom had one of these from me as well! I actually think I have it now though. I was thinking of making one with DDs handprints because I am sentimental like that, lol.
My almost 2.5 year old has finally given up his pre nap and pre bedtime bottle. He got such comfort from them and they made our transition to rest time so pleasant that we never wanted to fight him on them. I'm so happy he's moved on without any stress. I just packed his bottles away. It feels like such a big milestone since he was so attached to them. My boy is growing up!
Just curious, are you doing milk in a cup at that time? Or are you done with the milk entirely?
Asked because we just moved from giving my 23mo daughter a bottle to a cup at nap and bed. I'd rather not give anything, but I don't know how to go about stopping. Like your kid, it's hugely about comfort for us.
I outsourced Christmas cookie decorating to the grandparents. Not only is DD better behaved for them, they have more patience for the messes since it's not a daily battle they face.
