Only private rooms where I delivered DD. I loved my stay.
I want to deliver there again but with us moving an hour and a half away I'm not sure I will. I'm going to tour/interview backups in the new area but since it's a bigger metro area, I just hope I can keep my crazy plan. I want my doctor (who saw us through 7 yrs of IF to get DD) and my hospital that is amazing.

All of our rooms are private. I delivered my DD there but I think they've renovated with birth tubs in some rooms now. They have a nursery but it's for tests and by request only. Their standard is that baby rooms with mom.
The hospital I delivered DS at (and the one I'll be using this time) is super small. There are only two private rooms, and you can't reserve them. Of course DS was born at a really busy time, so I had to share a room. DH wasn't allowed to stay the night, and DS had to stay in the room with me. He was fussy, so I spent the night pacing up and down the hallway with him, less than 12 hours after giving birth. I don't recommend that, and I have no idea why the nurses let me. There's also only one bathroom in the L&D wing, so everyone had to share (although the birthing rooms had private bathrooms).

My experience was like you describe - labor and delivery and postpartum were private, but the recovery room if you had a c-section was shared. I had a c-section both times and was so out of it between coming off the meds to trying to listen to the nurses, to trying to feed the baby that I didn't even notice if someone was in the other bed the first time. The second time there was someone in the other bed and it didn't bother me in the least. It goes by very quickly.
