I know a few, but we aren't close. I've always been interested in Mormonism (if that's the right word). They seem to have really close-knit families, a good work ethic, and good family values. But, I don't think I'd ever convert.
I live close to the Mormon temple in MD a la Sarah Palin. But I know some Mormons from work and one of the girls that lived in my ten girl suite in college was Mormon. She taught me the most about the religion in the least pushy way. She was really wrestling with going to a top university and dealing with the pressure of her family to not use her education to the fullest.
I married into a Mormon family. I mean very Mormon! My ILs practically live/lived (MIL passed) at the temple. We're in CA but MIL moved to UT a few years back. Can't have a conversation withhen without some religious talk thrown in. The entire family is Mormon. I am the only person that is not, this includes cousins and distant family. I am atheist. DH no longer believes in the church and recently a few if his siblings have changed their views on the church and it's teachings as well. Up until a few years ago DH and I were the only ones who didn't go to church.
In the beginning there was talk of how I dressed inappropriately (tank tops some cleavage showing) but I didn't care. Most recently it was thought by some in DH's family that I practiced witch craft. Me drinking beer an wine in my own house wa an issue. Ummm, oh and DH and I moving in together before marriage almost gave MIL a heart attack. She tried to threaten and guilt DH into not doing it. This family is all sorts of crazy. .
All if DH's friends are Mormon as well but they are pretty awesome. They just dont drink. This family is dysfunctional. Oh and BIL, turned SIL is the latest drama. Some of the siblings won't have anything to do with her nor will their dad. I'm one of the bery few working moms in the family. There's only one other. This family....
We know a ton of Mormons. My supervisor is a Mormon, though he's a liberal and only has 2 kids, which makes him unusual.
We go hiking in southern Utah pretty frequently, and I've read a lot about the histor of the Mormon church and regional history of Utah.
Suuuuper nice people. Almost compulsively, overly, sickeningly nice. Maybe I'm too snarky for ther tastes, but I sometimes wonder if everything is a facade of fakeness from most of the Mormons I've met. The LDS church's stance on women (best at home, barefoot and pregnant) as well as the cultural acceptance of this fact and the social pressure to women that their place is in the home makes me batty. Utah has the highest Prescription rate of anti-depressants of any state.
PBS Frontline did a FANTASTIC piece on the Mormon church a few years ago. I highly recommend it: www.pbs.org/mormons/
I could go on and on.
Politically, I don't care what religion (if any) the US President is. His job is the affairs of state, which is separated from church in the US.
My final paper for my religious studies minor was about systematic oppression of women in the Mormon church through education. Write what you know for a good paper, right? If you can't tell by the topic, I'm not entirely thrilled by how the church treats women.

My college boyfriend's little brother (in his fraternity) was a mormon - and truly the nicest guy ever... really handsome with amazing legs (he played soccer)
I loved him b/c he wouldn't go to the strip club the night of initiation like all the guys usually did- so my boyfriend took him to dinner instead
now i'm in NJ and can't think of anyone that is Mormon around here.
Yep. I went to elementary school right next to a Mormon church. I have several friends that are Mormon. I was also really friendly with the missionaries whenever they came into our grocery store to get lunch. Most of them nice. are really
Just a couple. My BFF's childhood friend. She attends temple in a nearby state as we don't have one, was married in a temple so her family could not attend (they aren't Morman).
One family at my high school was Morman. The kids were quite scandalous for small town IN.

Yes. But only one family growing up in upstate NY. They were an established family of many generations - non-Mormon until my friend's father accidentally ran over his toddler son w/ a tractor. After that they were Mormon. My friend Steve was the sweetest guy in the world and had a crush on me early on (he was the first boy I ever held hands with). He called my Mom before Halloween to see if he could give me a black cat as a gift- she said "No" (she really didn't like cats and we had a skittish dog at the time).
We having a gaming night every two weeks with a couple of families that are Mormon. We met them at a local comic book store on the store's gaming night and decided to form a home game. They're totally cool. Then again, we don't talk a lot about politics or religion.
