I looked all over and couldn't find a satisfactory definitive answer. I was really disappointed to find out that the third trimester doesn't start until 28 weeks though, I thought it would be 26 or 27

This whole thing drives me crazy, why does everyone define it differently?!
It seems to me that 40/3 = 13.3, so if you want to be conservative, second tri would start at 14 weeks (rounding up from 13.3) and third tri at 27 weeks (rounding up from 26.7). But I don't make the rules.
According to baby2see dot com, there are 3 different ways to calculate it. If you're going by development, it's 12 weeks, because that's when baby stops developing parts and just starts growing/maturing. By gestation, it's 13 weeks, 3 days, because 40/3. By conception, it's 14 weeks, because you're dividing the 38 weeks after conception by 3, then adding the first 2 weeks.
