Do you have plans for V day? Do you exchange gifts?
I usually tell DH not to get me overpriced flowers and a gift, but I do expect a card and dinner. We haven't really exchanged on V day for a few years. With Christmas, then my birthday, he gets kind of slammed, lol.
No plans for Valentine's Day. We usually order a deep dish heart shaped pizza and I think we're going to do that again this year. I actually have a 3 day weekend that weekend and we're planning on painting our bathroom and spare room. How romantic!
We don't exchange gifts. But I will be making some sweets for my h.
Ha! That is what a real marriage sounds like to me!
We have my job's formal event on the 13th, so that'll be a fun treat!
The day-of I'll bake something and H will make a special dinner. We don't exchange gifts, although he'll probably get me flowers.
I think GLW also goes to a formal event near V day. I am jealous!!
Hmm...baking would be a nice treat for MH.
It's our annual donor recognition gala that just so happens to fall on V-day weekend. One of my employee's husband feels like he's getting out of doing anything special!
We're going to a black tie gala we go to every year; this year it's on the 20th. We're staying over at a nice hotel afterwards. We'll probably make a fancy dinner at home on the 14th, too.

Well we went out last year and said never again (that was pretty much the only time we dared eat dinner with everyone on V-day in the 10 years we have been together, lol!). I worked in the service industry long enough to understand that at MOST places on Valentines day you don't even get great service because the staff is constantly busy, so it's actually better for us to eat out a different night and not feel rushed or crowded (and get quicker & better service, too).
So, this year we'll do our usual routine of making something together and splitting a bottle of wine at home. Haven't decided what to get this year, but in the past we've done Chicken Parmesan with Caprese salad, or bacon-wrapped filet mignon with asparagus and Bearnaise sauce, etc. We usually do exchange cards and small gifts but nothing to elaborate. I did see a comedian I like will be in town that weekend with a Friday show, so I am debating if we should get some tickets and do that the same weekend.
We don't exchange gifts and I always tell him not to get me flowers. I made reservations at a steakhouse S has been wanting to try. We both are off from work the next day because of Presidents Day.

We also don't really celebrate on the actual day. We will head out to dinner at some point, but I am more excited that we are going away for a night later this month. Now to decide where to go...
