So I've been feeling a little yucky the past few days and then by late last night I started to feel like death warmed over.
Sinus stuff- stuffy nose (can't breathe), headache, earache, sore throat, etc.
OB sent me to my PCP this morning and the PCP (who isn't my normal doctor) I saw prescribed Dymista. It's a Class C drug.
I haven't really taken anything- heck even drank much caffeine this pregnancy. I'm worried now. Should I check with the OB on the drug or just stop taking it?
I would take a class C drug if it was there wasn't an A or B drug that would work, or if I'd tried everything A or B and they'd failed. But I would not take a class C drug as a first resort. I'd probably call and ask if there's anything that's class B that can be prescribed instead, especially since your symptoms are pretty generic/normal (not that they don't suck, they're just not super specialized).

I think Rhinocort is B. That said, my OB said I could take Flonase which is half of the medicine in your spray.
Have you tried a Netipot or other sinus rinse? My mom bought me one two weeks ago after I got really sick and I swear it's amazing. It's so much better than a saline spray.
Not familiar with the medicine, but looking it up I wonder if it is the best for your symptoms or just something a pharm rep recommended. There was no generic listed and it is pretty pricey.
I would rather take a b drug that was for the same issue first vs a pricey class c.

I have tried the net pot. I have used it since I had sinus surgery almost 8 years ago.
Unfortunately this is a reoccurring thing for me. I think this is Def a case of the drug rep pushed this, I'm calling tomorrow to ask for a class b sub! I guess I just assumed that all nasal steroids were class c.
I pretty much exclusively use the MommyMeds app because it has been so good to have while Breastfeeding...
They state that Claritin/Loratadine is a safer alternative to the Azelastine in the Dymista, but there is no alternative med for the Fluticasone
Do you think you need the steroid, or could you get by with a Claritin and a Tylenol? Otherwise, I would probably call back to see if there are any alternative safer meds.

Totally dwl this app, thanks!! I'm a bit on the hippie/crunchy side when it comes to meds, I don't take them unless I have to. I'm pretty much not functionAL right now and I think if I don't do something and go into labor like this there is no chance that things will work out like I hope (med free). With my experience with this type of infection, for me, without a streiod it can last 6-8 weeks. More concerning is that it's spiking my temp and BP.
I called back this morning and requested something cat B and they called it in. The Dr mentioned that because the dymista is local it shouldn't have any effect on the baby, not sure I'm buying that. Getting the OK from the OB before taking anymore Dymista.

Rhinocort is class b. I took it throughout my last pregnancy and through half of my first. If you are referring to a nasal polypectomy this will help prevent you from having to go through that again and it's the only nasal cortisoid considered "safe" for pregnancy. That said I've known several people who took Flonase without issue and all their babies were absolutely fine.
