If you have followed food guidelines for your pregnancy (i.e.: no alch, no deli meats, sushi, etc) what will be your first---or among the first---things you want to eat post partum??
This time, I have eased up on soft cheeses like brie if they are pasteurized, and I started drinking a very small amount of espresso as of 2-3 weeks ago. I'm a vegetarian, so no meat issues or giving up sushi here since vegetarian sushi is fish-less, lol
But pp, I will look forward to: -WINE and CHAMPAGNE and GOOD BEER -Gorgonzola -Ranch dressing (all the best ones have raw egg!) -a proper poached egg with soft, dippy yolks
I think I will request a mimosa, with poached eggs and biscuits and a side of fruit for my first meal after we get home from the hospital. This will be heavenly, I KNOW IT! Shoot, I may just skip the oj part of the mimosa, lol
The only things I miss are alcohol and the occasional spicy tuna roll. I won't be questing for any sushi in the hospital because it's more of a mood thing (DC sushi is nowhere near as good as the CA sushi I was spoiled on in college)- but my friends are under strict instructions to bring me good champagne and a margarita.
Rare steak with Gorgonzola topping and my favorite Rioja. I don't like sushi or deli meat, and I didn't bother with the no runny egg rule. I really, really miss steak though.
I didn't avoid much (I didn't much eat fish prior to pregnancy), so just liquor! I want a tall flute of that purple swirly Viniq. I am also looking forward to the French toast the hospital serves; they have great food there. When my first son was born, that meal was the best thing I had ever tasted; it was as if I had never tasted real food before that.
Ive only been avoiding sushi so naturally that's all I can think about. Haha. We have a Valentine's Day sushi tradition so im happy that no matter what happens, we'll still be able to do that since 2/8 is his last possible day in there. Ha.
A margarita! That's all I have at the moment. Nevermind, I want eggs over medium with corned beef hash under to mix all gooey - with a buttermilk pancake on the side. A large coffee, a margarita and champagne and I'll take turns between the 3 drinks in between bites! And it'll have to be from my favorite breakfast place near me because it is to die for.
I want dozens of raw oysters. I've had a handful this pregnancy but it's definitely one of my cravings that I've held back on. That and a margarita.
This! Plus prosciutto. I was just telling my h that it's oyster season and we need to go to a hh now.
We live about an hour and a half from the Chesapeake Bay, and it was killing me not to have any fresh oysters this fall! H suffered too because I've strategically avoided all the restaurants I know that serve local oysters.
I cheated and had proscuitto once. There's an upscale Italian deli two blocks from my house, and one day when I was in the midst of my food craving throes, it HAD to happen. One of my favorite wine bars with a great charcuterie board is relocating right down the block from us. They should be ready to open just in time, with an outdoor patio to boot (plenty of room for a stroller!).
Really just all the booze, but I shouldn't be answering your question cause I am not super strict with the guidelines. I did sent my Panera sandwich back when they gave me deli meat instead of non-deli meat, I probably would have eaten it if I hadn't purposefully ordered a sandwich without deli meat.
I already told DH I want him to bring me a turkey sandwich from the deli. I haven't been eating cold cuts but I love me a turkey and Swiss. And I'll wash it down with a beer.
I was just thinking this morning, that I'm going to need to appoint someone to bring me my Starbucks Doubleshot on Ice ASAP post birth. First tri was a bitch weaning myself from those 5 heavenly shots of espresso each morning.
I haven't been a good rule follower otherwise. I have cut back on my sushi & deli meat consumption, but I wouldn't mind a huge sushi meal with a bottle of champagne!
After I had DD at 8pm, the hospital cafeteria was closed so I sent DH out to get me a Foot Long from Subway, lol
I don't even normally eat Subway, but I guess that whole thing of wanting what you can't have just made me want lunch meat and a bunch of bread (I had GD), lol
I'll probably just take whatever I can get my hands on for my very first meal, but as soon as I can, I'm hoping to get a nice cold turkey sandwich, and a spicy tuna roll, and a margarita, and some Mexican food (not that I can't have Mexican food now, I just really love it). Maybe not all of those all at once, but anyone who comes to visit the baby for the first week or so will have to bring takeout with them
