I have not limited myself as much this time as last time... I actually totally forgot until I read this post that I wasn't supposed to have runny eggs (oops, I had some delish eggs Benedict last weekend). I have not eat deli meat from the counter, but have bought package/pasteurized meat and eaten it once or twice. I am missing my cheese... especially since I went to a work conference and the last night they had wine/cheese/meat pairings that look divine!
I will eat all the cheese the first day home... if this child is anything like C, I won't be able to eat it for several months after (C projectile vomited any time I had dairy).
Well, I treated myself to a ham and gruyere croissant after my doctor's appointment this morning and I just ate a runny fried egg with my lunch, so clearly I'm a wild woman.
It's been 23 days and I still didn't get the meal I desperately want, sushi. Our favorite sushi place was closed for renovation until last week. I'm waiting for H to pick some up for me.
I was super restricted because of GD during my pregnancy. I thought I'd want a cheeseburger on a huge delicious bun and a beer, but I delivered at 5am and settled for my first meal being a (crappy hospital) bagel with peanut butter, cranberry juice, and coffee around 8am. TBH, I felt after labor like I usually do after a hard half marathon or half ironman, and I needed a while before my stomach was ready for anything heavy.
My ILs brought me Starbucks when they came to see Hobbes a few hrs later, and my friends brought me a real bagel in the afternoon. I forget when I finally got that burger and beer, but I kind of forgot about it anyway.

Maybe just leave the baby with him for 20 mins tonight and go get your own. At this point I don't even think you have to share.

My car is dead in the garage and has been for weeks lol. I have never driven his, and I would be too nervous to. I actually haven't driven in 4 months.
So I wait. Right now I'm snacking on cornflakes and pretending it's something more tasty.
Well thanks to the carb watching associated with gestation diabetes, it'll be a large order of cheese fries from Outback with extra cheese and bacon. I also had to give up Dr. Pepper (my only source of caffeine) and I still miss it so I'd also like a 5 gallon drum of Dr. Pepper with a straw to drink out of.

Breakfast: breakfast sandwich with a runny egg and ham with a mimosa Lunch: spicy tuna roll with crisp white wine Snack: charcuterie board with every soft cheese and cured meat Dinner: DH's awesome steaks from the grill, a big "real" Caesar salad and a bottle of red

I remember I completely cut out coffee when I was pregnant with DD and when the brought me breakfast the morning after I delivered, the crappy hospital coffee was like the best, thing, ever! This time I really haven't restricted much other than lunchmeat and sushi but I seriously cannot wait for a giant chilled glass of Pinot Grigio. Or a super hoppy IPA. 3 more months!
I'm about 30 seconds pregnant and all I want to do is eat prosciutto.
Wait there are rules about the cook of a steak? NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO.
This is what I ate for dinner with a Bunch of cheese, crackers, and wine the night before I found out I was pregnant
It's all I want to eat right now. All day. It's like when they told me I couldn't drink any water before my egg retrieval. I'd never been so god damn thirsty in my life.
But really, I asked a friend who has a 6 month old baby about the steak thing. She said "Well yeah you can eat it, but it's supposed to be cooked through." Looks like I won't be eating steak until October. Well-done steak? Even medium-well steak? BARF. NO.

I wasn't a rule follower this pregnancy. I ate deli meat, sushi and had an occasional glass of wine.
My first meal was a bbq bacon cheeseburger and smash fries from smash burger. It was delicious. The next morning I had yogurt and pancakes from the hospital. Lunch was Caesar salad and a baked potato. Also from the hospital. Our hospital actually has really good food.

Honestly, I've never ever heard of anyone getting sick from medium steak. Ground meat, yes. But steak? Never. So I don't follow that, at all. Admittedly I'm not a huge rule follower when it comes to food restrictions during pregnancy, but I can at least see where some of the other guidelines are coming from. Now the question is, who is cutting out salad greens? The last number of listeria scares I've heard of have been spinach and bagged salad.
Anyway, the only thing I've wanted that I haven't had is raw oysters but I won't be making that my first meal. naive in the first week or two though. Probably I'll get H to take me to the local fancy brunch joint where everything is incredibly rich and delicious. Not because I couldn't have it before but just because I deserve it.

My OB said medium was best, but as long as it's not ground in any way it doesn't have to be completely cooked. Any sort of ground beef needs to be cooked through.

I've been doing burgers well done (sad) but medium rare for delicious steak. The cut edges are the scary parts open to contamination, not the middle! My OB is lax about the food rules and im more relaxed as a stm but even my old fussy doctor never said steaks needed to be well done, only ground meat.
Wait, am I not supposed to eat blue cheese? Because... that's been my #1 craving and I've had wedge salads 3-4 nights per week. My midwife said as long as it's pasteurized it's fine. Is that one of the at your own discretion things?
I was a blue cheese dressing fiend during my last pregnancy--like, there were multiple times where I ate three salads a day. It was commercially prepared pasteurized cheese, so I had zero worries. In fact, the spinach in my salads was probably more dangerous.
I had AJ a little before 7am, so I got hospital breakfast and lunch but a friend brought me Mexican food too just for the hell of it and then my parents brought me a giant turkey sub from Jersey Mike's for dinner Somehow I managed to wait until a couple weeks after giving birth to dive into the sushi (not intentional) but once I did oh lord did I stuff my face with it!
I am not drinking, no raw sushi, no bagged lettuce, unsafe cheese, ect. I will eat deli meat that has been heated and I cannot think of anything I am missing out on (other than my waist).
The hospital I will deliver at serves only "healthy" food which is usually up my alley but the food is terrible. I live in a smallish town so if I want decent take out I have to give birth before 8pm lol. I usually have DH bring me Froyo from the cafeteria or Jimmy John's although I really want a runny egg and some thick buttery toast. If I was not on medication that interacts with alcohol I would be packing champagne in my overnight bag.

This is so true right now. I miss mine too. Like a lot.
