Thanks ktzmoh. I plan on running with my friend and hopefully get her to the finish under 3 hours. She's run over a dozen half and has never made it under 3 so I hope to help her reach that goal. She has to get in under 3 if she wants to run that San Francisco Half!
80* is going to be rough. I need to check out the hourly weather.
I picked up today! Thinking I'm going to run in a skirt and tank. It's SO dry. I hate running in Santa Ana wind weather. Good Luck to you and your friend! I love the SF half, it's probably my favorite race. I ran it with farmvillelover (and another friend) back when she was a runner.
This training cycle has been riddled with injury (me) and illness for me and my kids so I'm just going to be happy to finish.
I'm hoping they are okay. It's already quite sunny, at 7:45 am.
I was thinking the same thing. It was a warmer, sunny/cloudless day when I ran it (our east coast crew felt great, because low humidity!), but I remember the medics being fairly busy that day. Hang in there, girls! You've got this!!
Lol! I stopped to grab a Red Vine from someone and I posted while I ate it. It was the best Red Vine ever and it gave me the energy I needed at that moment.
I was trying to help my friend PR and hit under 3 hours but by mile 6 it was over and she had to run/walk so I took off. I was 30 mins off from a PR and I knew it wasn't going to happen so I didn't push as hard as I normally do.
I was so sad when I saw the 2:20 and 2:25 pacers 3 miles ahead of me. That's where I should have been. And then when I was at mile 10 I was sad because I should have been done by then.
It is hot out there and even if I tried to PR I doubt it was going to happen due to the heat and I know I didn't hydrate properly the days leading up to this. Oh well. Done and I have a massive medal to show for it and really tight calves.
itsme great job! I didn't end up training as much as I should have because of injury but I ended up PRing by about 2 minutes. I'm not sure how that happened; I just kept plodding along.
I bet we were fairly close to each other. Running into the sun for the last five miles was tough for me but I'm glad the wind wasn't worse!
Congrats bg!!! My form went to crap the last 5 miles because of the sun and then my body started aching. I was great until those last 5. I think a cool breeze would have been nice.
Sorry you guys had challenging weather. That course couldn't be more exposed; I know that sun can be rough. Congrats on battling to the finish & earning those awsome medals!!
It was rough for me as well. I knew it was going to be a hot one when I left my warm up shirt at the start area 10 minutes before the race started. It was hot and dry, and when I made the turn to head back up pch to the finish the sun was in my face and it was just unrelenting. I also had to stop to pee so I knew I wasn't going to PR from that point on. I didn't give up, but I slowed down through water stops. I finished in 2:04. Disappointing, but I was just glad to be done.
I had anticipated that it would be super hot, and my mom lives right near PCH, so she bought some otter pops. When I was done with my race, my husband, kids and I walked down to the marathon split and handed out otter pops to the runners still on the course. I felt so bad for those runners but was glad that we could offer some support.
