I do not enjoy business casual clothing AT ALL. Hence, I own none. The last time I shopped for these kind of clothes was 15 years ago and I left the mall crying. I'm assuming the customer I'm meeting with in MO next month has a buisness casual dress code based on the industry. What's tricky is that the brand I'm representing is very So Cal hipster & the antithesis of corporate middle America so I need to dress for both companies.
I seriously look like a tool in pencil skirts and/or blazers. I do not want to wear heels. Did I mention I MFing hate these types of clothes on myself?? I either end up looking like I'm in a mock trial or a librarian at a nursing home.
I have a gift card to Madewell and have been wanting this shirt.
I might be able to tolerate these pants
Opinions? What else? Gap/ON/target won't fit me.
Does this shirt from Boden say "Business Bitch" Dorothy Zbornak Or, does it just scream aging Ramones fan that may drink too much at karaoke?
I really like the Boden stripes with a pair of ankle pants and dressy flats. Ankle pants may be a gamble at the end of March, though. It could easily be below freezing.
Are you going with plaid to blend in with the Midwesterners?
I want to go with what will not make me look like an escaped Oompa Loompa from the Chocolate Factory. All my confidence is contained in denim and Chuck Taylors.

I agree. Tiny petite people like you look excellent in ankle/skinny pants and dressy flats.
I see you in ankle-length skinny pants and a hip blazer with the sleeves rolled up. I like the Madewell pants. Maybe try Modcloth or Anthro for the blazer? Urban Outfitter or Top Shop might have edgier cuts.
I also like Madewell pants. I'd go skinny pants and blazer. Something with a non traditional cut.
Basically everything Earlybird said, except for urban outfitters. I've never been able to find anything that I could get away with and I wear orange pants regularly.

I hate flannel on anyone, yuck, especially otherwise attractive women, but maybe it is fashionable in the MW?
Why wear flannel when there are so many other options available!?
Sorry. end flannel rant.
It's fashinable here in hipster heartland and I'm looking for an excuse to buy it. I wore flannel in our family photos, lol. I thought the print was subtle enough to not look western but my POV is not geared towards professional attire.

Are skirts completely out of the question?
I'm just so short and tall shoes, aside from my booties, are out which makes skirts hard. My legs are beluga white.
What about the jcrew pixie pant (fits like a legging, but much, much thicker/dressier with a back zip and is crazy comfortable, also sizes down to a 00 short), a fitted button down (Nordstrom does nice inexpensive ones- I personally like jcrew's because I need talls) or blousy top (anthro) and flats? If you've got a nice leather tote/hobo bag and a scarf, that could work. This was my uniform at corporate business casual events for years;)
View Attachment I don't think plaid is right for this trip. A skinny pant and silk blouse?
I like this print and I could use my gift card. I think its the same print as the dress DB linked above, too.
I think so too. I like the dress but can't picture you in it.
I have a couple similar style blouses I wear with skinny jeans and booties. But skinny ankle slacks and flats would be a bit dressier for the occasion.
I was going to mention the pixie pants too! Those pants are made for your body type. With the Boden top it would be a really cute outfit. Just bring a heavy coat. lol
I rocked my flannel all day today! Long live flannel!
