My nephews visit by themselves for a week every summer. They've been coming since the youngest was maybe 7? When we were growing up, we did one-night sleepovers at our aunts and uncles' houses all the time (and grandparents, but that's not what you're asking). If we lived in the same town, I imagine we would do that with my nephews too too.

Yes, but they live 30 mins away. We do cousin sleepovers all the time. When I was a kid, all of my aunts and uncles lived in the Midwest (I'm in CA). We would go stay w them for a few weeks in the summer sometimes.
Yes. My local niece is Henry's BFF, her mom is mine. Especially now that she has a new little sister, I try to do things that are just us.
My other niece and nephew visited once for a long weekend. The age gap between them and Henry is much bigger though and it's more often that we end up traveling to see them.
No, but only because we live so far away. My nieces came to visit me once with my Mom when they were only like 4 and 6 (which is so funny to think about now). I'm in TX and they are on the east coast now, so it's harder to coordinate (and more expensive).

We spent time on vacation with my BIL/SIL and their kids at my in laws cottage.
II don't think I've made the direct offer for her kids to stay with us "at home" but it wouldn't be an issue. My sister has offered to take our kids for a weekend but feels like her kids would not do well staying away from home (my niece doesn't sleep well and has some anxiety.) I feel bad taking her up on the offer since they aren't getting a reciprocal break.

I have two 13 year old nieces who are coming out this summer without their parents for the first time this summer. I'm very excited about it. They live out of state and we visit them every summer, but it will be fun to hang out with them without my brothers. I've never really done that before.
Nurse Cramer had stopped speaking to Nurse Duckett, her best friend, because of her liaison with Yossarian, but still went everywhere with Nurse Duckett since Nurse Duckett was her best friend....Nurse Cramer was prepared to begin talking to Nurse Duckett again if she repented and apologized.
Yes but they are older. One of my nieces is over quite often. The girls are 10 months apart so now dd goes and picks her up for the weekend. She and another niece have been spending the night at our house for years.
They came up about 4 years ago alone. I drove 2.5 hrs and met my sister halfway, as the drive was 5 hrs each way. They were with me for 4 nights, and I took them into NYC twice. It was a blast.
I was asked yesterday if they could return in May. They live in FL now, so they actually have to fly up here alone. I am SO excited! DS wasn't alive the last time they came alone, so it should be a ton of fun.
One day I hope to leave DS with my sister and then hop to the Caribbean with DH for a few days.
Our only nephews (my SIL's kids) live in New Jersey, while we're in Ohio. We only really see them a couple times a year, and then that's usually a big family gathering.
As I was growing up, my sister and I were close to our cousins on my mom's side of the family (not so much with the cousins on my dad's side). I attribute this to the fact that my mom's family all live in Ohio (my dad's is spread out across the continental United States) and my grandparents had a condo up at Lake Erie we would all spend much of the summers at. It wasn't unusual during the summers for us four cousins to pal around. I hope that one day, my future kids are able to have similar relationships with their cousins.
My nephew has been spending the night/weekends with us regularly since he was 2 or so. Before we had DS we were the fun aunt and uncle. Now that we have DS I am less fun and more "brush your teeth, go to bed, only one bowl of ice cream" but DH is still fun. LOL
We also have taken both nephews (6 and 1) a few times. That is a lot with ds (who is 2) but it is also a lot of fun to see all the boys play and roughhouse together.
