So I'm at the airport waiting to fly out to Seattle.  The incoming flight is debarking and I just watched a family with three kids walk by in shorts, sandals and NO COAT on!  I hope they have something packed in their suitcase because it's kinda cold outside.  lol

Another one who wouldn't think twice about it. Seattle has nonstop flights to Hawaii (and they're pretty cheap right now too), so that's where I'd assume they're going.

That makes me nervous! I cringe when I see people running in and out the gym with nothing but shorts on in this temp. What if your car breaks down? Sure this is surburbia and you probably won't have to walk more than a block to get to somewhere warm, but a block in winter in shorts would be horrible!

When DH went to the BVIs many years ago, he took no coat with him. When he got home, it was snowing. But I met him at the airport and had a coat for him.

SO- maybe whoever was meeting them (if anyone) had coats for them. Or they're packed. Or they are just going to wing it!

We did this a few weeks ago. Flew to Orlando for a night, so only had small carry ons. My dad had our coats in the car waiting for us (he was picking us up). That walk to the car was cold in 8 degree weather though!

I usually get my luggage and change to whatever's weather appropriate before heading out of the airport.

When I was in elementary school a family moved to my town in NJ from Alaska. They all wore shorts year round. 15 degrees and snowing and they'd be at the bus stop in shorts with no coat. So maybe these people were coming to Alaska from Antarctica and this is warm for them.

I was waiting for the bus this morning with another woman and she had a dress/skirt on with no leggings or anything! Of course our bus was late (thanks, SEPTA) and I watched as her legs turned red.

I guess you have a point, but  they flew into Anchorage.  Why would they fly into Anchorage to go to Hawaii.  There's no direct flight from here.

I was in Anchorage.  They flew into Anchorage.  No direct flights from Anchorage to Hawaii.  Not that I'm aware of anyway.

I never come home from Mexico in shorts or flip flops. It's always freezing just coming off the plane through the jetway!

I use a fleece on my legs, flex. I get cold on planes too.
