We just had an offer accepted on a house that needs major remodeling. All floors, bathrooms, kitchens, interior & exterior paint. I will likely be asking lots of questions and seeking advice.
The home has 3 bedrooms upstairs. One of which will be a home office as I work from home. Would love for the office to have laminate hardwood surfaces as I find that easier to roll a chair around on. The rest of the upstairs will be carpeted. Would it look strange if everything except 1 room was carpeted?

No, not weird. But would you consider putting down hardwood through all the bedrooms and then carpeting or putting down rugs in the other rooms, instead? I think it would flow better and would be better for resale down the road (assuming this isn't your forever home).

Right now we are saying this is our forever home.
We prefer carpet in our bedrooms as our dog has a hard time with hard wood floors and we like the warmth the carpet provides. From a cost perspective we don't want to do hardwood and rugs/carpets.
I see nothing wrong with it at all. Eventually we will have all hardwood upstairs, except one room that will be carpet.
And plus also, we had the builder finish part of our basement and we got carpet on that floor. We are finishing the other space and will have vinyl planks. I'm leaving the carpet for now because there is nothing wrong with it.
Not at all, especially if you're planning to use it as an office! (We're probably recarpeting the rest of our house, but leaving old carpet in the office to eventually do what you're thinking about.)
If it's a long-term house, I always choose function and MY preferences over re-sale value anyway.
If you're going to be there for a while I don't see anything wrong either.
I work from home full time and the bedroom I use for my office is all carpet so we just put one of those hard plastic chair mats down. My dog also has a problem walking on non carpeted floors and she liked to lay next to me while I'm working.
