I finally got around to scheduling a dermatology appointment for a full-body checkup. I'm really pale and moley in general, and I have a few skin tags on my shoulders that I'm hoping they can remove. I have Monday off work, so luckily they had a spot open for me. I saw a dermatologist in my old town a few years ago for acne and the excema issues on my hands, but she just rushed through the appointment and didn't really seem to look thoroughly at the moles/skin tags when I asked her to check those as well. Hopefully this new doctor does a better job.
I made the call today because I have a mole by my ear that suddenly started hurting yesterday when I touched it. I don't even know what my history is with that particular mole ... it's not very visible unless I crane my neck in the mirror, so I'm not really sure what's going on with it.
Cancer scares the shit out of me. My dad died of cancer, and so did my MIL, and my mom dealt with some issues as well, so I feel like it's just a matter of time before MH and/or I have to deal with it as well.
It's an early appointment so I won't get to sleep in on my day off, but I'm glad that I'm finally getting it done - I should've done it a long time ago.
mbcdefg I hope the appointment goes well and the mole is nothing major. MH is also super pale and moley and he jokes that he is like "white gold" to the derm bc of the moles he has had removed. :-p
I had a MM idea yesterday: I think I will pay for my hospital bills with my Amex and get the points. Then submit to my fsa for reimbursement. Hah!

My random: I'm not sure I actually want to remarry. Divorce is such a giant pain in the ass. I just want to wear a pretty ring & not be legally married.
I'm sure I'll eventually change my mind. The thought is so ugh right now.

Hugs. You just went through so much. Don't worry about it. Eventually you can decide if you want to marry again or not. If it's not the right time for you to marry, don't. Heck you can wear the pretty ring and be engaged for the next 60 years if you like.☺
I went through something similar with my divorce. Boyfriend is dealing with it after his, too. The idea of being married and all of the economic, legal and other risks it involves can be very scary. However it also comes with a variety of benefits and protections, too.
We are getting to the point, especially as we want kids, that the protections make more sense and outweigh the costs in some regards. I also don't really care about the wedding this time around. I don't need the hoopla and everyone's crazy. Just us at the JP and a vacation sounds great to me. Now the pretty ring - I wouldn't object to.
I am super excited that the restaurant by me is having gyros for their special today. I always want to order one, but I get too self conscious about the pronunciation. Today I was able to just say "I will have the special". I never know if I should pronounce it guyro, euro, yiro, or whatever. My husband and I have a running joke about the gyro place we go to. If we say guyro, they repeat it back as euro. If we say euro, they repeat it back as guyro. Same person in both instances.

I'm lucky I was asleep when the cat swiped me last night. He left scratchs ON my eyelid and a little puncture wound within my crows feet, about 1/2 inch from my eye. That area is, not surprisingly, quite sensitive.

Thank you, explorer2001. I know you're right. I loved being married. It was awesome...until it wasn't. Dealing with a complex legal system on top of the pain of undoing 12 years together left me jaded. I'm not generally a pessimistic person, so I know the rawness will lessen in time
I may treat myself with a pretty ring after I sell my house.
steph96, that flip flop is funny. I say "yiro," and this was also what I understood to be correct when I went to Greece. I think they have to be playing with you guys lol.

I bought* myself a diamond solitaire necklace after my divorce so I say go for it.
*Well sort of bought. The jewelry store had a trade in/up policy so I gave them back some stuff that reminded me of my ex and upgraded to a just for me diamond necklace.
I'm back from hearing Detroit's mayor speak at the luncheon! It was an incredible speech, and he spoke about how the city is finally seeing growth due to things like replacing broken streetlights, tearing down abandoned houses/buildings, and prioritizing public transportation by building a new light rail system and increasing the number of city buses.
I closely follow Detroit's growth, so here's what blew me away: he said he has an open door policy, and that he will eat dinner in the home of any Detroit resident who invites him. Since his campaign in 2013, he has had dinner in over 250 Detroit residences. I can't imagine many other "bigwigs" doing that, and he said he's in tune with the pulse of the city because he speaks to residents every day about their hopes, dreams, and concerns.
I didn't get to ask a question like I was hoping, since the first person who asked a question stole mine (and asked about schools). He was a little vague there, but said the governor's appointment of emergency managers has been disastrous and that as soon as his office regains control over the schools he has plans for improving them.
It got me hoping/wondering if maybe he has bigger political aspirations someday.
Tagging runforrest since she offered me some advice in my other thread.
ETA: Here's a pic with crappy photoshopping to blur out my current city (not that this could be very identifying anyway).

The city's redoing a ton of our sidewalk. Most of our street was done last week except one random square. They poured the cement for that one square today and didn't block it off. I didn't notice until my dog walked right over it and sank down to her knees. Poor thing. Now there's 4 dog leg holes in it. I feel like of bad but I'm almost more pissed they just left it unmarked.
Oh another random! When I was leaving my house this morning, there were 2 sheriff cars outside my neighbor's house (emergency lights weren't on) and there were about 3 extra personal cars in front of their house. I can't help but to wonder what was going on. Anyone have any theories? I want to be nosy and ask, but we aren't exactly on friendly terms. If they were renting, I would be crossing my fingers for an eviction but they own their house.
Eta: We don't live in an area where the sheriff would respond to normal calls. The sheriffs had been there for at least 30 minutes and we never saw any city police.
I was prescribed a new AD and the package says not to eat grapefruit while taking this medication. I can't figure out why? I eat a grapefruit pretty much every morning...

I'd check with the doc. This isn't an uncommon warning, and can sometimes include other fruits like oranges (I think).

It's one of those totally random interactions. Grapefruit can cause the medication not to break down properly because of the compounds in the juice binding to the medication, if I remember correctly.
I remember when my father in law started radiation he was trying to eat really healthy because taking care of his body seemed like a good idea. They told him that eating well was a good idea but not to have too much spinach, kale, or other dark, leafy greens because they can interfere with the radiation. Weird. :^)
I had a very positive outcome this morning to a work situation that was causing me some stress. This afternoon I also got my name changed at the Social Security Office, the DMV and the bank. I consider today a win all the way around!

I love all of this. So exciting! And I love that sign.
