How old are they supposed to be now? And I missed what happened with the guy who attacked her. He was in an accident and just went crazy bc of his brain (or whatever)injury ?
Derek has four sisters, Nancy, Kate, Lizzie, and Amelia. Amelia is the youngest. His mom is alive as well. I believe all of them have been on the show (I think for just an episode apiece). IIRC Neve Campbell played Lizzie.
You just know that if Christina had still be in Seattle that Mere would have called her since she's her "person" and her "sister."
I think the biggest issue for me with Mere is that she acts as if she is the only one to to have ever gone through a bad childhood. Clearly, Derek and Amelia (and the other sisters) went through a horrific time after their father was murdered. Alex was abused and while he can close himself off and play the jerk defense mechanism game, he is often the first to go to bat for someone else. Mere acts as if she's cornered the market on pain and suffering and has only been encouraged by others (Christina included) in this regard.
What is Meredith not wanting to forgive Amelia for? I must have missed that. I know Amelia was shitty to Mer after Derek died but I thought they later were cool and living together.
People have already discussed the background of the general anger.
But I thought, in this particular instance, Meredith blames Amelia for this attack, namely because Meredith called Amelia for a consult, but, because Amelia was in a personal fight with Meredith, Amelia chose to see another patient instead of responding to Meredith's page for assistance.
Oh, this is a good place to put this random thought: they keep showing her commuting to work with Alex, Ameilia and her random new sister. Where are the kids? Who is taking care of them? Who takes them to this mythical daycare that they seem to sit in for an insane number of hours? It is not like they ever show a nanny or any kind of help?
And are they saying Alex was taking care of them for the 6 weeks she was in the hospital?
Given how the show started, I'm surprised that I actually like Alex. I never liked Mer, so I'm not surprised I still don't. I miss Christina and George.
The lack of the fucking car seats in that car kills me every fucking time. I cannot let it go.

As a result, Meredith was alone and got attacked.
ahh okay that's the part I kind of missed. That's what I get for multi tasking. I know they have issues but it felt like there was something in this particular episode that happened that Mer was pissed about and I didn't know what. Thanks!

IIRC When they had that awful dinner party, Meredith and Amelia sort of lost it on each other and Meredith kicked her out of the house.
oh that's right too. That was before Thanksgiving so I forgot their whole fight.
I'd love it if they brought Izzy back. I think I'm one of the only people I know that liked her.
I'm just now watching this. I agree, boring episode. I really just watch it because I love Webber. His singing while walking her down the hall cracked me up for some reason. I really hated seeing him on The X-Files being super nasty. I want more of Webber being Arizona's wing man. It at least temporarily lightened shit up. I don't know why I still watch this but I'm still so hooked on it. I don't like anyone anymore aside from Callie/Arizona/Webber.
Meredith is angry with Amelia because, in her mind, Amelia is making everything (namely, Derek's death) all about her.
I'm not Amelia's biggest fan, but I'm with her here.,
What she fails to recognize is that while it's not all about Amelia, it's not all about Meredith either (shocking concept for her, I know).
I think the biggest issue between them is the absolute hurt and betrayal Amelia felt when Meredith didn't call her when she got to the mountain hospital after Derek's accident. I totally understand when Mere got the call, that she didn't have time to go hunt Amelia down, but after? She had hours and hours at that hospital where she could and should have called her. Maybe Amelia could have helped - we'll never know now - or even if not, given the ineptitude of those doctors - she, as his sister, should have had the chance to say goodbye to him before life support was turned off.
I won't even pretend to try to decide whose feelings trump (wife or the sibling) but I cannot imagine one of my sisters-in-law doing that and not being able to say goodbye to my brother when there was the opportunity to do so.
Derek wasn't just Amelia's brother, either. He was her father figure, having raised her after their father was brutally gunned down in front of a then-teenage Derek and five-year-old Amelia.
But of course, it's all about Meredith's pain. Yet another reason I can't stand her.
Totally this. It has always pissed me off. Doesn't Derek also have other living siblings? And what about his mom? I can't remember if she is ever mentioned. The only thing I can think of is bc she didn't think Amelia would be able to let go and would try to become hero Amelia or something. more likely that shonda just wanted to get the show on the road lol. I have always liked Meredith but her doing that was a turning point for me in seeing how selfish she can be. No to her and Alex getting together but I can see it coming. He deserves his own thing. Not just getting wrapped up into meredith's world.
I've been watching reruns on lifetime. It was interesting when they first started dating there was a scene where a woman had been raped (she cut the guys junk off) and was in a coma. She didn't have any family, Derek specifically told Meredith if he was ever in a coma he had 4 sisters that he wanted there. It was an interesting scene and I wondered if there was some foreshadowing even during the first season.

Sadly, I think you're giving Shonda / the writers too much credit.
I want that, but shonda has never given me what I wanted in the end.
I'm Charlie Brown with the football with this show. I just can't help myself.
Charlie Brown with the football...exactly. This is the only show in my life that I've watched from the pilot and continued watching. Usually I come into a show late or bail after a few seasons. I used to be crazy about this show. I watched the first 5 seasons over and over. Now I'm lucky I watch it Thursday. Usually I'll wait until Saturday and watch it folding laundry. Not good Grey's. Not good. It's time to go night-night as my niece would say.
