(Apologies if you don't have a long weekend)
Despite the ungodly cold weather, DH and are hoping to tidy the garage, put the rest of Christmas décor away (I know, I know) and lay out the pieces of DS's new swing set. Based on the condition of the boxes, I'm certain some of it will be damaged. Thanks UPS :^)
I may try to mount the pipes for a shelf in DS's next room. I'm making one of those industrial shelving units out of pipe & wood - those pintersty things that look so easy right? First off, the pipe & fittings were like $150 . Also, EVERY SINGLE PIECE OF PIPE WAS WRAPPED IN A BIG STICKER. I had to use a razor blade to shave every bit of sticker/tape off, and then goo gone to get the sticky off. Why is nothing every easy?
No Valentine's plans - I get the shaft since my birthday is the week after.
We are finally going to build the Ana White farmhouse table and bench. It was supposed to be my Christmas present but we had a hard time finding the lumber we needed, so we put it off. But we found a local lumbar yard that offered free delivery and they brought us the lumber this week. Since it is going to be warm this weekend we are going to build it in the garage. I'm most worried about the staining. I haven't done a lot of that.

I don't have Monday off, which sucks, but I was sure that the professional staff did and they don't either so that's at least a bonus. I did get paid today instead of Monday (I get paid on the 15th and 30th/last day of the month) since it's a holiday so I can eat something real and not ramen today at lunch!
I'm not sure what our weekend holds. Tonight we're going to KC to go bowling with my siblings for my niece's birthday. It's gonna be a late night and I hope everyone copes well. I thought MIL was going to keep the kids Saturday so we could celebrate valentine's day but I'm not sure that's happening. So the kids will go to bed and then we can have an at home date or something. It'll be super nice on Sunday (55 degrees) so I'm hoping we can let the kids loose outside to play and clean up our garage a little more.
...... First off, the pipe & fittings were like $150 .
The cost is why we've never done any of the pipe projects we've considered.
Every day is a weekend since DH got laid off. Sort of. He does have some consulting jobs coming up, so yea for that, but in the meantime we are trying to get some stuff done around the house.
I want to work on some unpacking/organizing/purging in the studio, while Dh is around to help me with some heavy lifting, but we have to do a tag team thing since one of the pups had surgery yesterday and we need to keep an eye on her. My goal is to clear enough space that I can set up the pup pens and bring them in the studio, so that I can work on the space and not have to keep going back and forth between the house and the studio so they don't think that I left them alone forever. Little dog are so weird. lol
I think DH might work on mounting the solar panel and set up the accent lights for the rusted panels that flank the entry this afternoon. It's finally warmer today (it's been in the 30s...too cold for people who are used to 75 as a low-lol), and I think he wants to spend some time outside.
We don't really do Valentines Day, other than maybe use it as an excuse to make something nicer/different than the usual dinner or buy a dessert that we might not normally buy. We've really been trying different foods and making pretty nice meals though, so maybe we'll just order pizza. ; p

TBM I'm sorry about your DH's employment. I'm glad he's being productive - my DH had the worst time w/unemployment.
And I forgot another drawback of the pipe shelves (that I don't think is disclosed in blogs) - they're HEAVY. I need to get some serious mounting hardware for this thing. I could have scrapped the plan when I saw the total cost of the pipes, but my dad is a pipefitter, so the shelves have an extra special meaning to me. He's retired, or else I might have gotten some of this stuff free!
No long weekends here either. Tomorrow we are meeting with the contractor who is building the house next to us to talk about fencing and landscaping and drainage between our houses. Hopefully it's some sort of a privacy fence since the house is literally 10 feet from the property line and looks into our back yard. His yard currently drains into our yard (we have a ditch that runs across the back yard, then down the side of our yard to the drain in the street) and he wants to discuss putting in piping but I think that will cost around $10K so unless he wants to pay for it, it's probably not going to happen. It's a million dollar house, so I know he wants it to be out of sight, plus I think he is planning to live there a while.
Then we are going up to our cabin and will have dinner with some friends who live up there.
Sunday- nothing special planned. Depending on what we have for dinner Sat night, we might have some steaks or something else (if we have steaks on Sat. night, we'll have something else).

H does get monday off with his new company. I am not sure what we are doing for Valentine's Day. Besides steak dinner and watching Game of Thrones. I kinda want to sew the girls new dresses for Valentine's Day.
It's supposed to snow a bit this afternoon/evening and then been freezing all weekend. We're headed to the beach after swim lessons tomorrow to take the Ikea furniture we bought last month down there.
The plans are to get our bedroom setup with the new bed and dresser, put our furniture into the guest room and then move the guest room furniture out for donation pick-up. New mattress for our room gets delivered Monday (so sadly we won't get to try it out this trip.)
I'm hoping next trip down I can do some painting of at least E's bedroom and get her room looking a bit better. She still needs some sort of bookcase/toy storage. She has a tall dresser that I'm not in love with, but I may just repaint it when it warms up and update the knobs.

Our three interior doors (closet, bathroom and storage room) AND the powder room tile have all arrived. It is going to be the lamest three day weekend ever but DH wants to knock out as much as we can. I have painting and cleaning up to do but we are almost to the "just the stuff on the walls" stage.
