We have bought UV Skins bathing suits for DD1 for the past 3 years. They are 3/4 sleeve rash guards and skirts. They are great IMO. I've paid about $18 a piece at Costco. I actually just bought 2 sets for each girl this past weekend.
I think it is helpful - MH & DS are both super fair and always wear rash guards to prevent sunburns. Also putting sun screen on DS is a pain (we use a zinc based one) so I'm all about minimizing the area that I have to apply it to.
I see the benefit of and I buy DD rash guards and rash guard suits, but I don't think SPF protection in those suits make a difference so that's not an important feature to me. None of our clothes have SPF protection and I've never been burned through my clothes. Same goes for swimsuits IMO.

Love, love, love full coverage spf suits. I don't quite see the value in a traditional bathing suit with exposed shoulder/back though.
My children are really fair and we do either long sleeve rash guards with bottoms or full length surf suits (sunblock only on face, neck, ears, hands and feet!).
Ok. I think I am convinced to keep them, if only because they have longer sleeves than the alternatives I have looked at. Plus I worry about cancer. A lot.
