Hi there I'm 50, no bio kids but I foster teen girls, I'm Canadian...I have an adorable toy poodle named Charlie and my BF (I'm going to start calling him ISO like I saw another poster do on another board, I'm too old for BF) just moved in. Nice to "meet" you all.
HoneySpider Are you or your DH affected by the mass transit issues going on in DC today?
DH takes the bus and not the metro BUT since so many people do take metro, his university actually closed today (it's Spring Break otherwise I doubt they would have) I think it's a smart move. He's doing a little work from home today but mostly just chilling.
I'm affected because now he's home with me while I'm trying to work!

HoneySpider- I used to love it when DH WFH before I started SAH. Now he drives me nuts when he's home...and I don't even "work" it just disrupts my routine.
luv2rn4fun- I'm not training at the moment but I am planning on doing a 10k in Oct. (Canadian thanksgiving weekend.) I may try and sign up for 1-2 5ks this summer though.
Dragon boating starts May 18th. We plan to do 3-4 tournaments this year when we normally do 1-2.
We have one camping trip planned for April 29-may 1st. But we have 4-5 other camping trips we are trying to figure out.
We are also trying to plan a trip in June for our 5 yr anniversary. (It's in May but may is too busy for another trip.)
katiek - How are you feeling? You're 10 days from your due date, right?
I am, thanks for asking! I feel pretty awful, haha. I've been having painful contractions for an entire week. I thought for sure she would be born last Thursday, but obviously I was wrong. I went in to get checked out and the nurse said I had an irritable uterus, and the contractions will continue until I go into labour. So I'm just hoping she gets here ASAP!
luv2rn4fun & katiek- we had a trip to the US planned but with the way that the dollar is we are going to stay closer to home. (We also can't really afford a trip anywhere but need it so we are trying to keep it on the cheaper side.) I have never been to Banff, Alberta so we may go there. (National park, lots of outdoorsy type things to do, also a hot springs there.)

Oh my gosh, how frustrating! I hope she decides to make her appearance soon! I think St. Patrick's Day would be a great day for a birthday.
grover - In some ways it does and in some ways it doesn't. I feel like we still have so much to learn about him and his personality but I also already can't imagine him not having him.
luv2rn4fun Thanks for asking! We're getting there. We still have some boxes at the IL's and H's grandma's house. I feel like we should be all unpacked by now, but I can't get the motivation. There's so many projects to be done that I think we've just kind of frozen on what to do.
How is your house sale going? I've seen you've had some showings. Any success?
@emtmissy I was thinking, your H was out of work for a while but it seemed like you still were baking his co-workers food often. Do you just like them that much? Do they think you're the most awesome person in the world? Is your H back to work? (sorry if you've said and I missed an update).
katiek I was also told I have an irritable uterus. lol. I thought the doctor made up the term, but apparently not. Anyway, S was born 8 days early, so that means you only have 2 days to go to keep up with me again I hope she arrives soon! The end is so miserable every moment.
luv2rn4fun Going so much better now. S ended up having a tongue tie and once we got that clipped her eating drastically improved and I was able to get my pain under control slowly. M simultaneously adores her (gives her so many kisses, asks about her whenever she isn't in sight, doesn't want to leave her to nap) as well as feels expectedly threatened by her. He has been misbehaving more than normal towards whoever is holding her, then tries to hit her face when we reprimand him. It's a balancing act to know when to actually discipline and enforce the rules vs. being gracious since his whole world just turned upside down. Today was the best day yet with the fewest issues. I'm doing okay handling it, but I haven't been alone with them both too long yet. I pulled a muscle and haven't been able to go solo because of that. Monday will be my first alone day.
awick14 I'm so sad your US trip won't happen But I get it. Your other stuff sounds fun too!
tacocat- glad you guys are moved! You will get all unpacked and projects will get done someday! Our church mentors were trying to encourage DH to enjoy life more when we moved in by reminding us that they have lived in their home for 18 years and still have projects. I really like that approach and wished DH would have let some things go with the house so we could have enjoyed our kid free time more. Good luck!!!
Still no new news...lots of showings, one horrible offer. I guess the new news is we talked with our agent and she addressed our concerns. She also lowered her commission and we lowered our price $5k. We signed 3 months and will go with someone else if she doesn't get it sold by then. I am so over this process...just had a showing today and they were her all of 10 min...so basically planned my entire day around her 10 min showing that likely won't lead to an offer
amaranth- so glad things are going better with S!!! It's amazing how much a tongue tie affects nursing. I remember it hurt a ton at first too. Glad M is doing decently well, all things considering. I have a feeling C will be much worse...I have seen M be gentle and caring...can't envision C being gentle with anything LOL. I'm sure we'll get there and it's likely a communication thing that has to improve in 6 months! What does M do while she naps? Has he woken her up or vice versa? Sorry about the pulled muscle I will be praying for you Monday...hope your first solo day goes well!
amaranth H had a few holiday parties for his job that he still went to while he was out. He was a lead position so I would send goodies to make his employees happy.
H is cleared for light duty until May but since there is no light duty at his job he was terminated. Luckily he can collect disability until May but after that who knows.
