But....we saw this in 2008, 2004, 2000, basically every election since the beginning of time. Young people are generally progressive and want hope and change and all that good feel good stuff. Do they come out and vote though?
ETA: I guess I am referring to the DNC primaries specifically.
They seem to be showing up for the primaries in a lot of states. My point about them not going anywhere is that they are more likely to be reliable voters as they get older.
All older voters are reliable. It has nothing to do with generational labels. Also the label is not going to be predictive of future voting behavior. Again, see the baby boomers.

And I will give the millenials some applause when they show up en masse to ALL OTHER elections that do not involve hashtags and meme wars. Like state and local elections. Where real American revolutions actually start and happen.
I don't have an issue with Bernie staying in the race in theory. What I do have a huge problem with the level of vitriol being spewed by that side against HRC this late in the game. It seems to be getting worse as time goes on. That is what is going to hurt in November.
I wish all of the primaries were on the same day. I haven't voted yet, and it sucks that candidates drop out before everyone can vote for them (and I'm voting for HRC). I'm also over the insanity. If the conventions are in late July, have the primaries all on one day in June or early July. No debates until, I don't know, April?
This. I think it's insane that candidates drop out before even one person has stepped in a voting booth. That's a seriously screwed up system.
I personally think that Bernie never expected to do this well, but wanted to bring issues that were important to him into the national conversation. And perhaps just thought SOMEONE else should run, Hillary shouldn't be a foregone conclusion. Nothing to back that up, just the voices in my head, LOL. But I think he owes it to his supporters, his campaign workers, the country and himself to put up the best fight he can, and that does mean pointing out where Hillary is weak, in his opinion, as well as putting himself out there.
I have a friend who works for the state dept who made a comment to me that "they" picked Sanders as someone to run again HRC because he wasn't seen as a threat. And she said "they" really called that one wrong. So I wonder who tapped him to run.

Oh my fucking god. I cannot take this THEY conspiracy any more. THEY picked Trump to run to make it easier on Hillary. THEY chose Bernie. THEY rigged the election.
Well, THEY are tired of your conspiracy BULLSHIT! Go sit down.
I have a feeling if Bernie won the nom he wouldn't say anything different in a general. One of the reasons I'm terrified of him in a general contest.
So do you prefer your candidates to lie to you about who they are during the primary or the general?
Or just keep it a secret who they really are until after they're elected?
Most people regard politicians who say something different to a different audience as a negative!
Yes. That's exactly what I mean!
No. Of course not. I don't want him to lie. Or anyone to lie. I mean come on. I'm talking about messaging. His message is the same,it doesn't matter the audience. But a primary audience is not the same as a general audience. If you want to be president of a vast and diverse nation you have to be able to speak to and appeal to various factions or else you won't get elected. And if Bernie is to be the nominee, I will want him to win. But he can only win if he broadens his message. The same is true for anyone on the extreme right waning to be president.

Oh FFS. I don't have any conspiracy theories. I don't see what's so crazy about the idea that democrats thought someone should run against HRC and Sanders did. And you can't claim that anyone would have expected his campaign to go this far.
My sister, the lovely Berner, went to some Bernie Sanders events in Vermont years ago. And she came back saying "he's going to be our next president." I don't think Bernie's run has anything to do with an HRC conspiracy. Lol.
Unless your friend is Huma Abedin, then I might buy it.

Okay, maybe I'm a sucker, but I didn't think I was sharing a "conspiracy". Bernie is running and he presumably had some support in DC that led him to do it. And I bet he wasn't expected to do this well. It was just an off-hand comment that I was sharing. Jesus Christ.
