Yeah, I'm sad to see that people are upset about being in their 40s. 40s are awesome, mostly. There are downsides, sure, which I look forward to discussing in excruciating detail with you all, lol.
I cannot agree more with this. I would never want to relive my 20s or 30s. I have some great stories, but I don't need to experience it again.

54 and checking in. And I wish menopause would just commit already. 6 months no period and plenty of hot flashes than one day BOOM period back but no hot flashes. UGH

40's were my best decade by far. Except for the leadup to menopause, which I refer to as the "no upholstered furniture times." Menopause itself fucking rocks like little else on the planet. Month after month after month, no period surprises!
I loved my 30's the most. I've hated my 40's until just recently. I finally achieved the peace that comes from realizing that I will never again be cool, my cool days are long behind me, and no one expects anything along those lines, so I'm free to not give a fuck about anything. Not that I ever was cool to begin with, but there is a certain freedom with giving up the fight.
I like this board! My IRL friends are all younger and don't want to talk about menopause, constipation and kids in college.
I liked my 30's the best. My 40's have mostly consisted of a slower metabolism and crazy periods. I have anxiety over my skin changes and how in the last couple of years my face has really aged. Blah.

I'm 44 years old and my husband retired last year…okay, from the military, but still!
I've got a six year old kid, a nine year old dog (who appears to have lost his mind since turning a year older) and I don't know what I want to be when I grow up. And I adore wine.

I'm so in...47, going through the first stupid phase of menopausal crap and no kids. I'll shank anyone who comes in here complaining about their first white hair on their head! Wait until it starts going other places!

pffft. please.
The hair on top was completely grey at about 38. The rest started not long after. It's the eyebrows that are irritating me the most.

I'm having to dye my hair every 4-5 weeks, my H has commented on the down below. And, yeah, the eyebrows suck as I'm dying them often too. I am also not liking the very straight, very dense white hairs on the chin which seem to want to also grow into my skin. I look like I have pimples when they are actually ingrown hairs. Dammit.

I kinda love this.
I'll be in July - born in 1958 -- is that some sort of "thing"? PLEASE SAY YES. Second marriage (in 2005); I had two kids from first marriage (those offspring are son who will be 29 in two weeks and daughter, 24). H has no kids of his first marriage; fantastic stepfather, though!
No menopause for me -- had a hysterectomy in 2004.
Did we ask (do we care?) how people found the board in the first place?

For some reason this, of anything, makes me rage! Well, not REALLY, but I roll my eyes hard. One woman in particular was like "I think I'm going to have to start dying my hair.". I asked "why?", and she said that she was starting to find grey hairs. Then she leans over and shows me TWO that she had to look HARD for.
TWO grey hairs?!?!? Get the fuck out.
I'm 46 w/ a 7 year old. "old mom" here. I have to say that I liked my 30s better. We had more $$ and DH didn't work super weird hours. I dont like my job but am really starting to feel stuck. And now, in my mid 40s, I REALLY feel like I'm starting to look and feel my age. When I'm surrounded by a lot of women in their mid to late 30s (neighbor/school moms), it just kind of adds up after awhile. I'm definitely one of the oldest moms.
Especially, again, when they complain about 1 or 2 grey fucking hairs!

I'm 45, recently separated and - most days - having a great time!
I'm 47 and in a shitty marriage, so that colors everything. I'm hoping so hard that one day I will get the courage to separate. I've never lived on my own and I'm old, therefore I'm scared shitless. I admire everyone who has had the courage to leave a bad marriage, especially older women. It's so scary to me when I think of starting over.

IM SORRY.
Alice doesn't live here anymore? See what I did there? The Youngs would never get that reference.
Good choice of reference. I'm not even positive that she would get it. I miss seeing that chick here, tho. Stupid life has interfered with her internet time.
