Should I be here? I'm 40 as of this week, empty nesters, we have one DS (20) who's away at school. Not too far. No pets. With the exception of travel, my hobbies change often. Right now, they include television, spinning, anything design/decor related and doing hoodrat stuff with my friends.

I'm rambling over from CE&P, I know I'm about 24hrs late I hope the door is still open
I'm 42 this year, married 10yrs, dated 9yrs, we have a 3yr old daughter, who thinks she's 12, lol. I read, bitch about work, and watch far too much tv.
I can't remember how old I am and don't feel like mathing. I was born in 1968, which makes me old.
Married 11 years, almost. Two kids (a girl who's 9 and a boy who's 6 who was due on my 41st birthday). They're crazy and keep me busy. Also have the most chill lab mix dog ever. Like, she likes to sleep and have her belly rubbed. Which makes her my perfect companion.
Hmmm. I knit. I try to sew but I'm bad at it and it makes me cranky. I like geeky TV and movies. I live in Seattle, so it's just turning nice and I'll be outside for the next few months. I'm here from P&CE; I'm a politics nerd and y'all have to be OK with that. I also love the makeup board because pretties.
I'm a SAHM now (although my son's in Kinder, so both my kids are in school, so I feel like I should work, but... meh. I'd rather GBCN.) I went to law school and worked for 15 or so years investigating and prosecuting claims of discrimination in employment, housing, public accommodations, etc., so now I'm fucking tired.
I like to swear. I like good grammar. I like white chocolate (and, whatever, chocolate in general. But I grew up in Massachusetts and visits to the Hebert Candy mansion, where they know how to make white chocolate, were some of my best childhood memories). I like food (probably too much). I take my kids camping because I feel like I should.
We're ripping our 1960's era (not cool midcentury, mind you, boring tract house) up to renovate it. And we're learning that every job spawns four more. Like, we took our second bathroom down to the studs, and THEN decided that we needed to replumb the whole effing house.
I am 46, married almost 11 years this year. No kids - not married until 35 and unfortunately old eggs precluded having kids.
I work hard and even though my job might not sound exciting (Project Manager) I love that I'm very, very good at it and a star on my team. My customers compliment me often and I get a lot of respect at work.
My passion is dogs. I love all animals - always have. My FB page is one dog-related post after another! I volunteer at my neighborhood no-kill rescue and have two of my own sweet pups (Labradoodles that are 11 and 10). We call them our "babies".
Other hobbies - playing with my dogs, reading, listening to music and lately binge-watching some awesome shows (on last season of Mad Men - sooooo great!).
Late to the game. I'm 58, divorced with 2 daughters, 31 and 29 and a son-in-law, 32 (who I adore). No grandbabies, but a granddog and three grandcats. Share my home with a psycho kitty Merlin, 14. I love any type of crafting, but not an expert in any one thing. I finally treated myself to a Silhoutte Cameo this past fall, but haven't done anything since making some Christmas gifts. Love reading. Bought a cruisng bike last summer and looking forward to the weather improving so I can start riding it. Spend a lot of time on Ancestry.com and have found ancestors who came to the US as far back as the 1600s (Plymouth, MA, about 20 years after the Mayflower). Have lived in NJ my whole life.
Speaking of hobbies, I signed up for my 4th Improv class and then they needed more people to round out a Level 2 class so they offered it for free if people wanted to repeat. So starting next week, I'll be taking two Improv classes a week. My poor H and kids will have to go to two class shows in 6 weeks.
Stopping back in to add some details: 45, married since 2007, no kids. From the Northeast, and lived in major Amtrak Corridor cities since college until last year, when H's work took us to the West Coast/So Cal.
Hobbies: travel, sailing, reading, wine, cooking, trying new restaurants, and the gym (to make the last three more manageable).

I am 45 with five kids, ages 9 to 3. I have been married 12 years. I homeschool two of my kids and then spend my a lot of time with my kids at their activities.

If you allow new people to join, I'll play along.
I'm 42 (will be 43 later this year). I'm originally from New Orleans, but now live southeast of Melbourne, Australia. It's a huge change, and after 5 years, I'm still getting used to it. I'm married to a lifelong RaRA (Rural & Regional Australian) and we have no kids and no pets. I'm certain that's part of the reason I'm having a harder time transitioning from NOLA to RaRA.
My hobbies are reading, embroidery, and cooking -- though I'm an old-school, peasant cook, much more likely to use my original 50s-70s cookbooks than my new ones. I have recently begun a ballet class for adults, which is quite a workout and much harder for me than the tap dancing I had been doing for 4 years.
I'm 53, post on CEP and occasionally on MofM, and lurk on ML. I'm from San Francisco, married and followed my practice husband (also known as a$$hole EX) to some rural town, where I lived (and stayed married) for over 20 years. I have five wonderful children: 28 yo son, 25 yo boy/girl twins, 29 year old SIL, and 25 yo DIL. And a perfect almost 2 yo grandson!
About 8 years ago I had an epiphany from God. Prior to that moment I had believed that I couldn't leave my EX because the Bible says no divorce unless he's cheating on me. The epiphany I got was that he had not been true to his vows as a HUSBAND and I was free to go. This was at about the same time that I had reconnected (completely just as friends) with my HS sweetheart, so tbh it didn't look good to some, and it definitely didn't help that it was the last year of high school for my youngest. I was worried about telling my friends that I was leaving EX, thinking they would tell me it was a sin, but every single one of them said, "It's about time!" and a few of them said that I needed to recognize that it had been an abusive marriage. I didn't buy that until I started reading a book one of them gave me. (The Verbally Abusive Relationship by Patricia Evens- I recommend it).
Not long after the twins went off to college I moved back to SF and in with the high school sweetheart, and we've been married now for almost 5 years. He's the sweetest man on earth, and my best friend.
My hobbies are baseball, social justice, humor, and kindness.
PS @stalkermom, your profile pic is on my shirt, my phone, the flag flying outside my window, etc.
Congratulations on marrying your HS sweetheart, YeahSure, that's a great story!
And Hi! I post on ML, MMMoms, and CEP. I'm 47 with a 8 year old and almost-4 y.o. My H and I have been together for 14 years, married for 8, and we've settled in Maine after moving around a lot. I stay at home but did work for 20 years in administrative-graphic-design-editing positions. I'm actually applying for a job this week for the first time in 10 years. Wish me luck!
I "almost" meet the age requirement but mags can vouch for me that I am fun, so I hope that gets me in the club.
I will be 42 next month, am single and have no human babies, just two kitties who are my world. So yes I am the crazy cat lady. I have been divorced for a few years now but have no one special in my life right now. I am a full time student and then work in my friend's boutique shop about 40 hrs a week, so dating is not really on my radar right now. Besides, not having to shave my legs on the regular is a nice bonus......except summer is coming and then I will have to again. RATS!
"My hobbies include The E Network and cuticle care." If you can name the movie that is from, you get a cookie. I do love me some trashy reality TV. None of this survivor or American idol, I prefer the housewives series and then whatever new show Bravo puts on after that in the 9 O'clock time slot.

I hope y'all will let me play over here.
One of my very favorite things to do is read old cookbooks. I read them like novels, front to back, every page. You learn so much!
You do. And there is a reason those old recipes are classics. They just work. But the downside is I tend to heckle foodie shows on tv when they all of a sudden discover old recipes. Ina Garten had a recipe that everyone made a while ago which was an exact copy of a recipe that I made from my ration-book cookbook. I hate that the tv chefs don't ever talk about the history of the dishes or why the dish works.
It's also been really helpful for me as a couple of friends have children with serious egg allergies. My collection of war-time and ration-book cookbooks really comes in handy when I have them for dinner. It means I can make really nice desserts and not have to worry about the children being left out. I've noticed many of the recipes that are listed now as vegan are really from war-time kitchens, when they had to do without eggs, meat, and dairy.
I'm really late to the game. I don't normally scroll down the list of boards past Home & Garden, but in my effort to extend procrastination I happened to see The Olds and had to check it out. I am feeling some kind of way about the name though....I am in denial. lol
I just turned 59 last month and have been married for 38 1/2 years. My H was my boyfriend in 7th grade for 2 weeks, and then we started dating a week or so before HS graduation.
We have 2 daughters, one son in law, two grandsons, a grand cat and four little dogs. One daughter lives in Japan, and the other lives across the country with her family. Both think that I have nothing better to do than spend all day on the phone with them, so even though we don't see them much, it doesn't feel like it has been that long.
I haven't done much sewing, or other artsy stuff since we moved across the country 3 years ago and have been doing stuff to the house, but I have a history of costume work, props, painting and being generally creative. I like gardening but don't do as much as I would like because it is too hot to spend that much time outside here. We used to show our dogs for fun (we were not crazy dog show people, but we saw plenty of them), but now they are all retired and spayed.
I like word puzzles, love to cook, watch a lot of TV (detective/mystery shows, food network, hgtv and Hallmark movies), white chocolate (especially white chocolate peanut butter cups!), and was on theknot in the early 2000s, then TN from its early days, and left in the mass exodus. I spend my time here mainly on H&G but I lurk and sometimes post here and there on other boards.
Kind of late to the post but wanted to share. I love the idea of this board!
I'm 48, married for 11 years. Two kids, 10 and 6. One dog. Live in Wisconsin but looking seriously to move back to Iowa in the next two months. I am a pharmacist working in a hospital, rotating, shifts, so makes for a chaotic home life sometimes!
I have lurked on the boards for a long time, posted infrequently.

Joining in late, I will be 50 later this year. Three kids grown and out on their own. (28, 25, 23) One granddaughter(5), waiting for more. Remarried for almost two years, downsized and loving the simpler life. When I have time I like to read, cook, bake, craft, create, and garden.

I just found this board today, so I hope it's not too late.
I'm a few weeks shy of 44. Married since 2003. No kids. One dog and one cat.
Currently in the middle of a major home renovation and a new role at work--both of which make me feel clueless on a regular basis.
My hobbies are yoga, cooking, napping, drinking wine & craft beer, GBCNing, home renovations and DIY. DH & I also keep bees, so far he does most of the work related to them because I'm still a wimp.
