H and I are celebrating our 10 year anniversary in mid-August. We only have a couple of days to travel (due to work and kids/child care) and I REALLY want to go to Cabo. I know August can be rainy and hurricane-y. I don't know if it would be bad enough that we should take this off our list of places to go? Has anyone been there in August? A lot of the stuff I've read online says that it will probably rain every day, but that it is mostly in the morning and then maybe a few showers in the afternoon. I can handle that and humidity, just don't want torrential downpours all day. Anyone have any experience with this?
Also, what is the best site to use to book? I normally check Expedia and Funjet Vacactions (we are in the Midwest). Is there a better site to look at? I get so frustrated checking these sites and then changing the flights from the crazy times they initially show and trying to compare different dates, since we are flexible about that. It just takes so long...lol!
I can't help with the weather because we went in January, but we booked our hotel directly through its site. It's a smaller boutique hotel and we loved it.
Travel is fatal to prejudice, bigotry, and narrow-mindedness, and many of our people need it sorely on these accounts. Broad, wholesome, charitable views of men and things cannot be acquired by vegetating in one little corner of the earth all one's lifetime. Mark Twain

We were there in mid-July one year and it was HOT. It was great by the ocean and hotel pool, but you got to the front of the hotel, furthest away from the beach and it was super hot....very dry heat. In town we would go into the supermarket to cool off by the cold beverage case.
I remember the sun was really intense, you easily burned and tanned. Compared to home (which for me is the beach area of Central California) I got really dark down there.
I'd do a quick google and see if they're expecting another bad seaweed year. This past year was terrible, so between that + the crazy heat + the threat of hurricanes, I'd probably opt for a different location. Otherwise, I'd say book it and get some travel insurance, and then have a margarita for me :-)
Cabo in August is doable but Hurricanes are a very real threat. We go every year and have been in August and we got lucky and arrived two days after a minor hurricane went thru and left two weeks before Odile desimated the region. August is hot, super hot and humid so just be prepared to spend most of your daytime hours in the pool and your evenings outside as it will be nice and warm once the sun goes down. We book our Cabo vacations thru our timeshare but many of the resorts offer discounts if you book directly thru them on their websites. Plane travel can easily be booked as most major airlines fly to Cabo nowadays. If it does rain it will be up in the mountains and will pass quickly as long as a hurricane is not nearby. I've been there thru a few rain showers and we just went to the bar or checked out the downtown area while it rained.
I would check out the Cabo board on trip advisor before booking anything. It is a very active board and extremely helpful. Feel free to PM me too with any questions. If you DO decide to go in August just make sure you purchase trip insurance. What kind to purchase and thru whom is discussed on the board as well. :-)
