I was going to title this NE Corridor randoms but thought better of it.
Elaine Irwin and John Mellencamp divorced? She's remarried and he dated Meg Ryan and is now with Christie Brinkley? The things I stumble across online.
pixy0stix - I totally thought of you when I ran across this on FB. Turn a doll head into a lamp! lol
No thank you.
I had to call my sister last night and awkwardly ask, "Sooooo... how do your kids do with scary stuff?" The end result is that we're going to have to move some pieces. One giant piece (life-sized killer clown) is too heavy to move so we're going to cover it with a blanket. I did warn her that if the kids got curious and looked at it, whatever happened would be their own fault. She laughed so hard and agreed with me.

elleblue , that is freaky. Can you imagine a whole room of those?!
Today is my birthday and I'm behind at work and a little sad. I wish I was sitting at home in front of a fire reading a romantic novel and ignoring the world, but alas, I have to be almost middle-aged and act my age. Booo. At least DH and the kids cleaned most of the house last night and are having dinner and cake for me tonight with my parents and my ILs! (heart)
I think I'm getting blown off by an old friend, and I'm getting kinda pissed about it. But if I call him out he'll just be like "No! I'm just really busy."
Too busy to set up a time for a drink in over a month....apparently. Every time I ask I hear "oh I need to check my calendar."

Yeah.
DH and I are dealing with this with a friend as well. She has a job that requires her to travel a lot, so of course we try to be flexible and understanding, but when she tells us that she'll text us what shift she's on so we can make plans to meet, then we don't hear from her and see pics of all the cool stuff she's doing with other friends, it becomes obvious to me that she's not really interested in hanging out with us. Fine, I'll quit asking, but I don't think this realization has hit DH yet.

Is there any way to speed up pinning and crap for sewing hems?
I'm in charge of the physical build for our hackathon. The frame is going to be made of PVC and then I'm going to be sewing muslin panels for the 3 walls, plus ceiling. Each panel is 6' tall by roughly 5' wide (so I have to attach 2 36" fabric panels together). So I'm having to hem each 36" x 6' panel, except for the attached end, so that they're not ugly. And then sew a pocket top.
It's not complicated, it's just slow as fuck.
ETA: The actual physical size is 6' square but because PVC connectors suck, I have to sew the corners as 6' tall by 2' wide. Long story.

Can you borrow a serger? I'd just serge the bottom.
Alternatively, you can get a hem foot for your sewing machine. Still slow-ish, but faster than turning/pressing all those hems.

No one I know has a serger. I'm on a team full of very young Millennials and I think I'm the only one who knows how to sew (or at least owns their own machine).
I'll take a look for a hem foot. I can expense it! I think! LOL
I'm sitting here waiting for a blood draw and I'm surrounded by loud talking oldz. I know all about the man who plans out his gas station routes so he can be prepared in case there's an earthquake. Not an unreasonable way to live but unnecessary for me, sitting on the other side of the room, to know.
And now the discussion has moved on to his neighbor who barbecues and pollutes his house with meat smoke. lol
And now they're talking politics. And a woman proclaimed that she never liked Kennedy, from the moment she first saw him. She's apparently a Trump supporter and thinks he's a smart man.
Oh ffs now they're talking about Benghazi. Somebody save me. I'm going to end up bitting my tongue in half.

So I wasn't feeling particularly shy, so I just point-blank asked if he just didn't want to go and I got the "oh of course, but I'm really busy." I kinda feel like this could start a fight, but you know dammit I've been nothing but pleasant and I've had better luck seeing 4 out-of-state folks in the last 6 weeks than someone in my own metro area.
